This page may contain links to sites that aren't neccessarily appropriate for the kiddies. There are also links to slash-related sites. ("What is slash?")

trek

The Q Page: The best, most comprehensive page on our omnipotent trickster that you have yet to see. Pictures, links, fanfiction; you name it, this page has it. Created by the ever-talented Mercutio, it has now been passed down to Ned.

Alara's Happy Text-Only Page: Alara writes a lot of excellent fiction regarding X-Men, Gatchaman, and of course, Q.

* alt.startrek.creative: The newsgroup where I get the stories for the a.f.q Fiction Archive, when I'm actually updating, that is. You'll go out of your mind wading through this place.

* alt.startrek.creative.erotica.moderated: The other place where the a.f.q FicArchive stories come from. It's one of the coolest newsgroups I've ever been to. I find words like "community" cheezy, but this place has got it -- sure, flamewars sprout up, but mostly it's just nice and openminded and supportive. The mailing list mirror is here.

swamp thing

* Arcane Knowledge: Fran's site is basically, well, Swamp Thing Mecca. She has a complete episode guide, with a lot of linked detailed episode summaries (Read. The. Picture Captions.). She also has a huge gallery of screen captures, including an extensive one of Arcane. Yum. The site also boasts the Swamp Thing FAQ, the Season Two Bible, selected fanfiction, links, and an overview of the show for the uncorrupted.

* CultTVMan's Swamp Thing Page: Cult's page has info on the movies, show (as well as the cast + crew), and the toys! Yes, toys! It's got a great look and he has some nice, original screen shots of the cast next to their names (and a very yummy one of a smirking Arcane). It isn't updated a lot, but it's not really the kind of site that needs to be, so hie thee forth!

* Ker's Slash Page: She's slashin' Arcane and Graham. Can I NOT put her on here? <bg>

* swampthing-L: This list needs traffic. It needs it bad. We're all very friendly, I promise, so don't be shy! :)

pals:

* Lost In Ontario: Dara's a great writer and has a cool, irreverant newborn homepage.

* Something Blue: DrakCat's enigmatic Nine Inch Nails site. It's also down for the moment... and I wish it weren't.
...buuut thank gosh we STILL have Drakky's kickass prrsonal site, All This Fuss, with quotes + thought a day.

* Original Sin: Robin is the coolest imp I know. (And this site's down, too. Dammit! Well, I'm leaving the link here just in case this status changes.)

* Finest Kind: My buddy Mel's page. She knows which CDs make which creatures in that Monster Rancher game.

* Winterhawk's Virtual Magespace: Rat's awesomely laid out site about her Shadowrun RPG character, Winterhawk. With a campaign journal, insightful rants, Shadowrun book reccomendations, overviews of the characters in her campaign... oh, and: Read. The. Fiction. Now..

* Careena.com: Careena shares the other half of my brain.

* Spijder's Weavings: A talented writer and artist. This is also the home of her zine, Woven Worlds.

* Concoleo's Page: The page of a complicated man. Even better if you like The Godfather, Tommy, and RENT.

* Like "The Maxx"? Then visit Headless Artie's.

* Insanity Pepper Press: Obscure comix for obscure minds.

!!!
AKA, the former "other obsessions" section. AKA, yummy men. or men I respect. or both.

* The hub of Boy's Heaven: THe Yaoi Webring. I don't belong to it, seeing as I, er, have no yaoi content on my site, but I'm sure that you'll find some pretty pictures +/or fiction here.
(yaoi = m/m-themed manga/anime + related fic.)

* Nikutai no Yume: Very interesting essays on yaoi; it takes me a little bit to wrap my mind around her writing style, but she's very good . Of course, the fact a gorgeous redhead graced her layout the first time I visited has NO relation at all to why I like her site. I mean, I hate those.

* Uru-chan's Lair: lots of VERY nice scans from various doujinshi (fan-drawn manga) (as well as fanfiction, Winamp skins, and other fun.

* The YaoiShrine: It's back! It's got lots of pictures!

* Mink's YST/RW Yaoi DJ Gallery + Mink's Ronin Yaoi Cake Archive: Doujinshis, doujinshis, doujinshis! (What does YST stand for? I know that RW is Ronin Warriors... haha, and you always wondered how those boys spent time waiting in the belly of the latest giant monster that'd eaten 'em...)

* FREDDIE!!! There are lots and lots of pictures at Queenzone. And don't forget pics of Roger -- HummunAH.

* Brilliance: A Jude Law Fansite: He's goh-geous. He's talented. He's Jude. And they've got lots of pretty pictures of him.

* Shrine To All Things Slattery: My God, but I want to marry Tony. Anyone that, during Hoedown, can stuff an entire cloth napkin in his mouth, and then pull said napkin out of his mouth like a circus clown while singing unintelligibly around it... and THEN finishing with the phrase, "And then I cut it off" -- well, that's the man for me.

* The Official Greg Proops Fan Page: I sweat Greg Proops.

and while we're talkin' 'bout Greg and Tony...
* Whose Page Is It Anyway?: Information on Whose Line. (Yes, I like the British one better. Nice to see Chip Eston back on the American version, though!)

fannish (and/or) fanfic
mmm... slash.

* Sacrilege! - H/W Slash: Once on a mailing list, I'd heard Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes series described as one of the "sweetest, saddest" love stories. Look at me funny, but I'd have to concur. Stories here range from gentle to electric.

* holmesslash: Where we discuss, write and dream up this lunacy.

* Oblique Publications: Oh my God, this now-online, once-print zine has truly gorgeous Holmes/Watson stories by Jane Mailander and M. Fae Glasgow in Pćan to Priapus V: Multum in Parvo, . These women write the slash I've always wanted to write. Stories are in .PDF format; you need Adobe Acrobat Reader to see them.

* Mmmm. Placebo slash.

* The fanfic section of Arcane Knowledge. All right, so I already linked to Arcane Knowledge. But can I link it *enough*?

* I mentioned it before, but: Rat's fiction. Read it, damn you. Read it now.

* Trekiverse (was Archive.nu") collects all the Star Trek fanfiction from the Alt.Startrek.Creative newsgroups; the Trekslash Archive is rebuilding.
Meanwhile, you can find a lot of Picard/Q fic at Varoneeka's Slash, Mush and More.

* The Foresmutters Project: The history of slash, one smutty revelation at a time. Also, DocSci's Fanfiction Studies.

* Fanfic Critics Association: Refreshingly, finally, a list for discussion and critique fanfic. Extremely high traffic.
(If you're still hungry for criticism, Prospect-L's a discussion/crit. list for Sentinel slash, The_Chinook is for due South, and The Critical Edge is of the Highlander variety.)

* Cereta's Fanfic Symposium: Finally, a place where people write ABOUT fanfic! There are some fascinating pieces here. (Expect a lot on slash. What, and you didn't on this page?)

* Citizens Against Bad Slash: Bad slash. It's out there like a Graham in the night. This site reviews slash stories, and rants on different slash and fanfic-related subjects. I used to be quite addicted to their message boards. Don't agree with everything they have to say... but there are very few sites willing to critique/review fanfic, rather than just rec it.

* torch has a great slash-related link page. And I really like that story with the Gundam Wing five-way.

Actually, I like strangeplaces.net in general; Prana is also fun (and I don't even like Highlander.)

politico

* Guerilla Girls: Using creative, incisive posters to cry out against the discrimination of women and minorities in the art world.

* EFF: One of the main organizations supporting free speech on the 'Net.

* Peacefire: Internet blocking software (such as CyberSitter, CyberPatrol, etc.) has a lot of flaws, as well as some rather peculiar notions on what sites are harmful for children (the National Organization of Women's home page? Breast cancer research? GLAAD?). Peacefire has always done a great job of pointing this stuff out.

* cp.waldo.net.

* Bitch Magazine: Pop culture... mixed with feminism... mmmmm... Or, in their own words, "Feminist Response To Pop Culture."

* Sequential Tart: A webzine about women and the comic book industry.

* mouth organ: A site dealing with sex, gender, and culture, and how all three intertwine. I miss their old format, since I found their articles clever and insightful, but if you have a shorter attention span, you may like the new design. The articles are all archived, too, thankfully.

* Boycott F*ndom.com! Don't visit their site! Why? They say they own the word "fandom", that's why. In the words of Robin, "It's like trying to trademark the word 'potato'." How did this lunacy start? Click here. Again: DON'T GO TO THE WEBSITE. Trust me. Cool layout, but it's not like the site's the best thing since the invention of mini-marshmallows. If you're still burning up with curiosity, here's a screencap. Just don't give them traffic. Aight? I'm not trying to hurt the fansites hosted by F.com... but until F.com gets over itself, I don't see a way not to. Since F.com also owns the Another Universe chain, as well as Cinescape and Creation Conventions, it might be a good idea to boycott them as well.

useful stuff

* BBedit Lite 4.6: An invaluble tool for a Mac-usin' archivist like myself. This (freeware) text editor features search & replace, line-wrap, and -- get this -- a prefix/suffix tool. That kicks a macro's ass any day of the week in my book.

* TransWeb Transparent-GIF Service: Type in the URL of your .gif, click on the color you want transparent-ized, save and re-upload your .gif, and voila!

* Fetch 3.0: I have divided my life into two eras: Before Fetch (B.F.) and After Fetch (A.F.). I know some people hate the thing, but with AOL ftp-service the way it is and GeoCities filemanager an unreliable thing at best on my browser, this little puppy has been a godsend. It's an FTP client -- if you write your own HTML, you can just upload it all up with this little program. It's $25 shareware.

* The International Lyrics Server: Does this site offer any sort of help with website creation? NO! But it's just so damn cool. Type in lyrics to a song you like and find out the artist and title, hopefully! You need Java to view the lyrics, though.

misc.

* Sophie B. Hawkins: Official page.

* Sodium Fire: Another great Sophie site.

* Queenzone: Fanclub site. Lots of pictures. Actual confirmed news. Not as fond of the links page, though.

* Alex Smirnov's Queen Page: Lotsa, lotsa nice pictures, and a ranked links page.

* The Queen Network: One of the first really great pages I found concerning Queen; great album reviews, and the splash image is damn spiffy.

* MerQury: A Queen/Freddie Mercury tribute band. DAMN, but this guy can sing. Are the sound files back up yet?

Speaking of music...

* The Musical World Of Rocky Horror: Sound files. Lyrics. Anthony Stewart Head singing a dance mix of "Sweet Transvestite". Oh, and "The Time Warp" in Norwegian .

And if you really want something visual that's, well, pretty damn abysmal:

* A page about "The Eye Of Argon". Actually, it's not visual at all, but it IS the worst fantasy story ever written. Click on a copy. Gather round your friends. See who can read the longest without busting up in laughter, she replied bustily?

* love.less.as: Twi's site; her writing, her art.

* lovesetfire: Ang's homepage. She slashes Duran Duran (well, might I add), so there's probably some law somewhere against me not liking her. (journal!)

Incidentally, Twi and Ang came from swansongs.

And even thought I don't belong to ANY of the fandoms represented here, I keep visiting SaucyBard for some reason.

* Dark Side of The Net: For all your Gothic needs.

* Sluggy Freelance: You have to love an online comic strip that has a killer bunny with a grudge against Santa.

* Boy Meets Boy: The thing about Boy Meets Boy is that, well... Harley and Farr The RedHeaded ElfSlut share the same archetype. That archetype would be: Loveable Pierced Horny Manga-lookin' Bi/Gay Guy. (I don't know, maybe K. Sandra and I were born under the same sign or something.) So reading it is a little odd, but the comic's just so damn adorable and funny that I can't stop myself. (Did I mention I have this same problem when reading any Gundam Wing fanfiction involving Duo Maxwell?)

* got crotch? (it's about david bowie)

* Amnesty International: Dedicated to preserving basic human rights for people everywhere.
