Historic Bedford Street
Gladolias
During the late fall, our brother worked feverently with us to remove two large maple trees that had grown against the retaining wall.  He spent a good part of the winter splitting the wood from the sight to be used this year for our outside fireplace.

At this point, we were still disposing of old mattresses and appliances.  The back yard was a pile of dirt from the water diverting from the "Hill of Bedford Street."  We dug out flower pots made of old tires with the rims still attached.

The Hill of Bedford Street is privately owned and worthy of a hike along side of it.  Herds of deer and flocks of wild turkey were spotted by another guest to the B & B during Thanksgiving weekend in 2002.

As Thanksgiving passed, we still were unaware as to why water was flowing from beneath our house.  We thought for sure it was from our old leaky water heater in the basement.  We could not explain the water build up along the wall...
Our friend who purchased a home further up on High Bedford Street said that we would not see true gardens until next year.

However, we proved her wrong!  We have overflowed our gardens with flowers from glads, to nasturtiums to sunflowers with thirteen flower heads each!  We have four flower boxes on the sidewalk with iris and dutch acidous.  Petunas and impatiences flood the walkways.
