Our 501[c][3] Status

We filed our 501[c][3] application with the IRS July 16th, 2001. We expect this approval process to take about three months.

Our Goals

1.) To insure accessibility to health care, including, but not limited to mental health care, surgical intervention and medication.
2.) To educate the public concerning gender related issues.
3.) To provide shelter to transgenders who would otherwise be homeless.
4.) To provide peer support to those who are dealing with gender related issues.

The History of CATS

Community Awareness for Transgender Support (CATS) began to hold regularly scheduled support group meetings a little over a year and a half ago and officially incorporated as a Texas non-profit in February of 2001. We are scheduled to filed for official 501(c)(3) non-profit status with the IRS in July 2001.

CATS offers a variety of programs which assist transgenders who are in need of peer support, clothing, medication, medical attention, name and gender marker changes/corrections, counseling, electrolysis and even education continuously since October 1999.
