The Ananda Course in Self-realization is based on the original teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda (1893-1952), author of the spiritual classic, "Autobiography of a Yogi." Yogananda's direct disciple, Swami Kriyananda (J. Donald Walters), founder of Ananda Yoga for higher awareness, author of more than 100 books, founder of the Ananda Communities, and one of the world's leading authorities on yoga, meditation, and superconscious living, created the Ananda Course in 1968. Today, thousands of students throughout the world continue to practice the life-changing teachings of yoga originating from this Course.
