She can't help wondering where one could possibly hide anything in her neighborhood. Aside from shoving her posters and such into a trash can, Kat can't think of a single place Eliza could hide anything. She continues to scan the ground below, tail lashing about like mad.
Well, there's no ladder, but there is a rusted and very old fire escape attached to the side of the building.

Posted by Changeling on 2/19/2002, 5:23 pm
She grimaces when she spots the fire escape, but better to at least try it than risk unwanted attention by flying down unessisarily. She points it out to Joey, remembering how much lighter he is. If he makes it down without trouble, it might just be sturdy enough for Kat and herself, but if he doesn't think it's stable he can always warn them away from a dangerous accident. She wonders if there's another way down the back, and makes her way over to check.
If Kat were to look hard enough at a small shrub in the general area wher Changeling had hidden, she'd just barely be able to make out that there could be something there, but it has an irregular shape so it could be anything, even just a thick branch or two. Changeling wasn't kidding when she said she could hide things well.

Posted by Joey and Kat on 2/19/2002, 5:35 pm
Joey eyes the fire escape for a moment before taking the small drop over the edge of the roof to land on it's rusty iron surface. He stands completely still for a moment after landing, as if he's expecting the thing to fall of the side of the building. When nothing happens he bounces up and down several times, then does a little tap dance before looking up with a cheerful shrug.
Kat continues to study the ground. She wanted to know where her stuff was hidden. Who knew what the conditions outside would do to her posters? Her eyes narrow as she eyes a bundle that could be her stuff. After a moment she realizes that it was just a plastic bag caught in a small bush. She continues to look, but has pretty much given up. She eyes the area where Changeling had been hiding once again. Her head tilts as she studies the bush. Was that her stuff, or was it another false alarm? She didn't want to go down to check until she was completely sure.
There's nothing much on the opposite side of the building. One might possibly be able to climb from window to window, but it would look even stranger then going down the fire escape.

Posted by Changeling on 2/19/2002, 5:44 pm
She shrugs mentally and returns to where Joey is testing the fire escape in time to see his little tap dance. She grins down at him and shrugs "It's worth a try... we should go down one at a time though, just to be safe." she waits to see what he thinks.
There's no way to be absolutely sure, but if one looked close enough, one would just make out what looked like something fluffy, which could either be a cat or some other animal hiding in the bush, or a stuffed animal from Kat's room.
Changeling peers back over her shoulder and smiles slightly at the still searching Kat, but doesn't call her over yet as she's still not sure how reliable the fire escape is.

Posted by Joey and Kat on 2/19/2002, 5:54 pm
Joey grins back then nods in agreement and almost opens his wings to simply float himself down. Just in time he remembers that they were trying not to draw attention to themselves and blinks sheepishly. He drops through the hole between levels on the fire escape, landing hard on purpose. Had he the weight of a normal teenage male, it would have brought the rusty metal structure down if it was going to be pulled down. He shrugs again, then takes the next level groundwards.
Kat hesitates for a moment. She really didn't want to get shot by her trigger happy parents, but she did want her stuff back. She studies the house for a moment, there wasn't any movement. Before she can convince herself that it was a really stupid idea she launches herself off the edge of the roof and slinks down the wall. The way she's moving gives her away as a mutant as she hits the ground and scampers towards the house.

Posted by Changeling on 2/19/2002, 6:01 pm
She watches Joey make his way down, then turns to call Kat. She blinks hard when she discovers that the cat girl is nowhere to be seen and rushes over to the side of the building, watching anxiously as Kat makes her way to the bush she'd hidden the stash in.

Posted by Joey and Kat on 2/19/2002, 6:06 pm
Joey lands neatly on the ground and looks up at the roof, trying to see who was coming down next. He blinks when Changeling disappears again, and wonders what happened. Something told him that if he went around to the other side of the building he'd be able to see. He bet Kat had gone back for the stuff Eliza had hid.
Kat sneaks along, moving more like a large jungle cat then a human. It looks distinctly strange when viewed through the hologram. There was still no movement from the house, that was good.

Posted by Changeling on 2/19/2002, 6:17 pm
She watches anxiously, mentally berrating herself for leaving it behind and putting Kat in danger when all she really had to do was fly down and get it herself. She glances about, wondering if anyone had noticed Kat yet and hoping that the girl is being stealthy enough to avoid detection from ground level.
She considers returning to tell Joey what had happened, but decides that it's best that he doesn't know... he might just decide to help, and she really didn't want to have both of them on her concience.

Posted by Kat on 2/19/2002, 6:22 pm
Kat pauses for a moment studying the house, there was still no movement. She frowns absently, wondering why that observation made her fur stand. She temporarily pushes aside her own nervousness and makes the last few feet to the bushes. She smiles when she sees that it was indeed her posters and stuffed animals. She droops slightly at the sudden realization that she probably couldn't manage to carry all the stuff at the same time. Resolutely she bundles all her posters beneath her arm. She's concentrating so hard on the problem of trying to arrange all of her stuff so that she can carry it that she doesn't notice the movement coming from the house.

Posted by Changeling on 2/19/2002, 7:23 pm
She does notice the movement, however, but doesn't want to call attention to Kat unless it's absolutely nessisary. She watches, frozen in place and mentally calling Joey, wishing that he could hear her, but knowing he can't because she doesn't have her vampiric telepathy anymore.

Posted by Joey and Kat on 2/19/2002, 7:54 pm
If there's one thing Joey will always pick up, it's a call for help. The angel's silver haired head appears as he zips up the fire escape again. He's standing worriedly behind her almost before she's finished wishing she could be heard.
Kat continues to try and arrange her stuff so she could carry it all. Meanwhile her former foster father walks across the lawn, headed towards where the trio had disappeared up the building, and unfortunately right towards Kat. His eyes widen when he spots Kat. He moves far faster then one would expect a person of his weight to move and grabs Kat by the throat. Kat had looked up just a moment too late to avoid being caught. Joe's limited strength is enough to lift the cat girl's slim form off the ground.

Posted by Changeling on 2/19/2002, 8:43 pm
She almost jumps when Joey arives and gives a strangles cry when she spots Kat's foster father. She's already leaping from the building when she realizes that such an action is suicidal. She lands in a crouch, cat-like, and straightens as the man lifts Kat off the ground. One look at her face would be enough to warn even the bravest that she's dangerous, and she stands in the shadow of the building. Her lip curls back to display sharp fangs as she snarls at the man, hoping to catch his attention.
She'd hoped not to be in this situation, but now that she had semi controll of her other half, she'd use it to the best effect. She remembers to stay in the shadows and if the man actually looks at her, she trap his will with vampiric hypnosis. She stands perfectly still, her pose beconing as the vamp in her remembers how best to summon a human male.

Posted by Kat on 2/19/2002, 9:27 pm
Kat squirms in the grip of her former foster father, her clawed hands trying to loosen the man's hands enough that she can escape. Joe doesn't even notice the scratches she's gouging in his hands, the expression on his face a very clear 'gotcha!'. After a moment Kat stops trying to get loose and simply tries to keep herself from being strangled as the man's large hands continue to tighten. He doesn't look up at the snarl, too intent on snuffing the life from Kat to worry about one of the green freaks friends.

Posted by Changeling on 2/19/2002, 9:30 pm
With a low growl and a hiss, she leaps from the shadows, stifling her vampire half instantly. She shifts into a rather large dragon and whips her tail around to catch the man in the back of his knees in a trick that's toppled many a better fighter to the ground.

Posted by Kat on 2/19/2002, 9:33 pm
Joe falls, and Kat tumbles to the ground in a heap as she tries to start breathing again. The back of her mind is faintly annoyed to note that she'd crushed one of her posters as she'd fallen.

Posted by Changeling on 2/19/2002, 9:40 pm
Changeling hisses again and brings her large muzzle down to glare at the man, daring him to try something. She glances at Kat, then spreads one great, thickly scaled wing to protect her as she recouperates. She almost wishes the man would try something to give her a reason to go any further with her threat than a growl. However, she doesn't want to get all of mutant kind in trouble because of a silly human, so she doesn't try anything... yet.

Posted by Joey and Kat on 2/20/2002, 1:47 pm
The adult male curses when he's knocked over, and continues to curse until he realizes that cursing at a large and very ticked off dragon shaped shifter was probably not a good idea. He settles for a scowl, trying not to show that he's close to wetting his pants. The thought of going for the dragons eyes and then running enters his mind, but he quickly decides against the suicidal action. He quickly glances back towards the house, hoping his wife was coming with the gun. It hadn't done much before, but at least they could put a few bloody holes in the freaks.
Joey jumps from the building, following a Changeling. He doesn't bother to open his wings, he wouldn't be hurt by the drop and they'd only slow him down. He notes Changeling's control over her vampire half, not sure if he was worried or glad that she could exert such control. At least it would prevent her from getting fried when in the sun and annoyed. The silver haired teen is glowing faintly, but it isn't all that noticeable. He pauses a few feet away to heal Kat, his fingers working as if they were pulling strings. Healing was the only way he could help.
Kat is still collapsed in a heap, it hurt to breathe. She feebly tries to swat the wing away, her oxygen starved mind thinking it was another attack. The pain slowly starts to ease, and she looks up, still somewhat dazed. She watches the man that had been her foster father, cowering in Eliza's shadow as he tried to scowl defiantly. She sighs, any moment Tracy was going to step out of the house and start shooting, and then all three of them would most likely end up full of holes. She should have come alone, parted ways with the two once she'd gotten them free of Vision. She couldn't let Changeling take the wrap for dealing with her former foster father, she would have to be the one to sure that Joe wasn't about to follow them.

Posted by Changeling on 2/20/2002, 3:00 pm
She too realizes that the woman who had been Kat's foster mother could appear at any moment with her gun. Somehow, she senses that Kat might wish to break away from her old foster parents alone, but Changeling doesn't want to expose her to the danger. She bares her sharp teeth at the man, waiting for Joey's healing to help Kat.

Posted by Kat on 2/20/2002, 4:58 pm
Kat stands slowly, wishing she didn't feel so shaky. The energy Genesis had given her must be starting to wear off again. Looking down she notices that the holographic projector had turned off, she must have landed on it. Now the entire neighborhood could see what she really looked like. The scowl of her former foster father turns into a glare of hatred as he sees that she's standing. Kat didn't need empathy to know what he's feeling, it's so plain on his face, the regret that he hadn't managed to kill her. She frowns down at the man, wishing there was some other way to make sure that he didn't follow.

Posted by Changeling on 2/20/2002, 5:16 pm
She growls at the hatred in his face and turns the glare he directs at Kat right back at him. Her growl grows deeper, but she doesn't move as she asks Kat "What if I ate him?" she's kidding, but maybe if she scares the man enough, he'll decide that it's best not to go through a large, angry dragon to get to a green cat girl.

Posted by Kat and Joey on 2/20/2002, 5:24 pm
Kat wrinkles her nose, "You'd probably get indigestion."
"Seriously nasty indigestion." Joey adds in agreement.
He looks away, the only thing that stops him from jumping up and trying to strangle Kat again is the large and dangerous presence of Changeling above them both.
Kat scowls. "Stand up." She says to the male. He just narrows his eyes, obviously having no intention of getting up. The cat girl's eyes narrow, "You can deal with me, or you can deal with her." She jerks a thumb towards Changeling.

Posted by Changeling on 2/20/2002, 5:28 pm
She growls deeply, right on cue when Kat reminds him of her presence.
This could actually be fun.

Posted by Kat on 2/20/2002, 5:42 pm
He just glares up at Kat then studies Changeling worriedly for a moment. He wasn't going to 'deal' with anyone.
Kat looms over the man, her frown slowly turning into a scowl. Didn't he realize how ticked off she was? Didn't he realize that she was angry enough to shred him to bits with her bare claws? He wasn't afraid of her, and that ticked her off even more. She was so annoyed she wanted him to be afraid of her. Considering how furious she was, he should be. Why couldn't she be properly scary when she was ticked? Like Vision or Changeling or even every-day Paradox.
The mans eyes widen as Kat's tabby stripes and fur darken and her eyes start to fade to white. He scrabbles backwards, being faced with two such mutants was enough to freak him out.

Posted by Changeling on 2/20/2002, 5:51 pm
She watches the man move back, wondering if she was really that frightening. She didn't think so, but then again... One glance at Kat tells her the true reason. Had she known Vision longer, she'd have thought that her sister's changes are just a little too close to a Vision freak out. As it is, she's fairly impressed. She hadn't known that Kat could shift. But then again, she had only just started her mutations, hadn't she? And why not have another one kick in under stress? Her sisters had at least two, after all.
She watches the man carefully and keeps an eye out for his wife and her gun. She knows that her scales are bullet-proof, but if she couldn't react fast enough to sheild them, Kat and Joey might very well be prime targets.

Posted by Kat on 2/20/2002, 5:58 pm
Kat snarls, displaying slightly longer then usual fangs. Her former foster father continues to scrabble backwards, but he isn't moving fast enough that be can avoid being caught by the very annoyed and not entirely in control of herself cat girl. Kat simply tackles her foster father, and sinks her fangs into the hand the man held up to protect himself. She snarls as he tries to struggle. After a moment the man goes limp, and Kat straightens, turning her back on him.

Posted by Changeling on 2/20/2002, 6:01 pm
She watches the whole thing, eyes wide. Now that was different. Usually it was her that bit people... She watches the man go limp and reaches out to prod him with a foreclaw, wondering if he's just asleep or...

Posted by Joey and Kat on 2/20/2002, 6:07 pm
"Um, Kat? What did you do?" That comes from Joey, his eyes are wide as well.
A loud snore answers that question quite nicely. Kat looks back, looking faintly relieved. She hadn't been sure that she had just put him to sleep, and she wasn't brave enough to check. "Bright colors like this.." She holds up one jade green and white hand, "Usually mean the wearer is poisonous." She bares her fangs, giving them both a good look at the venom that's dripping down them. "I'm no exception."

Posted by Changeling on 2/20/2002, 6:13 pm
She smiles broadly, almost proudly as Kat displays her fangs. "Ahh," is all she says, then raises a scaled brow "I suppose we should be leaving now... we've created enough of a disturbance here..." she winces and glances around to see how many people are watching their little show. Well, no help for it now, they'd have to fly back, at least most of the way, to avoid a mob attack on the way back to Kat's house. She starts planning their getaway... a quick trip to the roof to collect the rest of the stuff, then maybe I can carry them in this form to protect us all against any kind of attack from below...
She's still wary of Kat's former foster mother and her gun, so keeps her wings slightly open and ready to sheild both of the others at a moment's notice. She's actually a little surprised the woman isn't already here.

Posted by Joey and Kat on 2/20/2002, 6:22 pm
Joey just blinks in reply to Kat's answer.
Kat nods tiredly. "Yes, please. Let's just go. " Now that she wasn't ticked off, she was just extremely tired. Genesis's energy boost was definitely wearing off again. She flicks an ear towards the house, after all that had happened she didn't want Tracy coming out and going trigger happy. (Little did Kat know that her former foster mother was actually cowering in the basement, she'd thought Joey'd come back to haunt her.) Kat starts trudging back towards the building, then remembers the stuffed animals that she'd never gotten the chance to pick up. She turns, staring at them as if she was going to draw them to her telekinetically. No such luck.

Posted by Changeling on 2/20/2002, 6:28 pm
Changeling notices Kat's exhaustion, and whips her tail around to pluck the things up and bring them to her own foreclaws and holds them in a cage of claws. "All aboard... Dragon Air is ready for takeoff..." she extends one wing like a ramp and waits for Kat and Joey to settle themselves.

Posted by Kat and Joey on 2/20/2002, 6:30 pm
Kat smiles thankfully, then eyes Changeling with her eyebrow raised at the dragon air comment.
Joey looks like he'd much rather fly himself.

Posted by Changeling on 2/20/2002, 6:35 pm
She raises an eyeridge "It's safer this way; I have scales and you don't." She says bluntly to head off any arguements, then smiles slightly "Plus it's the fastest, easiest way I can think of to get out of here."

Posted by Joey and Kat on 2/20/2002, 6:42 pm
Joey looks like he might comment when Changeling says 'fastest', but he doesn't. He simply shrugs and settles himself on Changeling's back.
Kat just blinks, studying Changeling for a moment. Then she too shrugs and hops on, clutching her posters.

Posted by Changeling on 2/20/2002, 6:53 pm
Changeling smiles slightly and retracts her wing as soon as they're both boarded. She glances once more at the man at her feet before leaping into the air with a powerful downstroke. In notime, she's aloft and circling to gain altitude above the rooftops. She's careful to keep her pasengers steady, like a good riding horse, wary of Kay's tired state.

Posted by Kat on 2/20/2002, 7:04 pm
Kat squeaks and pratically strangles Joey as she clings to him. As far as she could see, the silver haired teen was the only thing to hang on to up here!

Posted by Changeling on 2/20/2002, 7:11 pm
She chuckles at Kat's reaction and a line of thick fur shimmers into being along her neck and back for Kat to hang on to without throtling Joey. She knew she would keep them balanced, but a little reassurance wouldn't hurt the girl. She banks slightly to head east of 'home', careful to leave no evidence leading a pursuant to Vision's home.

Posted by Kat on 2/20/2002, 7:15 pm
She transfers her grip from Joey to the fur, ears flicked down sheepishly. She risks a look down, figuring out where they were going. "Um, Eliza? Vision might not like a dragon landing on her roof." Paradox may do it all the time, but Kat didn't think Vision would take kindly to Eliza landing on the roof.

Posted by Changeling on 2/20/2002, 7:20 pm
She nods her great head, acknowledging the suggestion, and keeps her course untill they're well out of sight of Kat's old neighborhood. She veers toward Vision's house, reaching it in a few moments. There, she and hovers above it, stretching her tail down like a slide and waiting for the two on her back to dismount.

Posted by Kat and Joey on 2/20/2002, 7:21 pm
That wasn't quite what she'd meant, but it was too late now. She takes the slide, stumbling slightly on the landing and almost ending up in a heap on the ground.
Joey follows soon after, landing with his usual grace.

Posted by Changeling on 2/20/2002, 7:25 pm
As soon as they're off she shifts to human, keeping her wings, and lands gracefully beside them, folding her wings. She offers the bundle of posters and stuffed animals to Kat with a small smile "Maybe it's best that I don't go in," She reffers to their last reception "But thank Mirage for me..."

Posted by Kat and Joey on 2/20/2002, 7:30 pm
She was going to suggest that Joey could just dump her books out here, they didn't have to go in. She takes the posters, mostly concentrating on remaining upright until she could get herself and all her stuff into her room. Then she could sleep for a month. "Thanks.. Uh, maybe.. Sure." She says, not quite sure what she was supposed to thank Mirage for. "Um, you could just dump my books here, I'll get'm to my room.." She says to Joey.
The silver haired teen eyes her for a moment, then starts unloading the books and stacking them into neat piles.

Posted by Changeling on 2/20/2002, 7:38 pm
She waits and watches patiently, comming down off of her danger rush.

Posted by Kat and Mirage on 2/20/2002, 8:37 pm
Mirage, who'd spent the entire time they'd been gone with her ear cocked towards the roof entrance, grins and bounces down the hall. She wanted to make sure Kat was alright, and she wanted to see what kind of stuff her younger sister brought back. The roof door slams loudly into the wall as Mirage goes through it just a tad too enthusiastically. Her ears lower sheepishly, but she cheers up immediately when she sees that Joey is unloading books. She bounds over and immediately starts rooting through them. Either she hasn't noticed that Joey's unloading them out of the pockets of his trench coat, or she's simply too distracted by all the reading material to care.
Kat's fur stands when Mirage springs over and starts going through her precious books. She calms when she sees that her older sister is handling the novels carefully, simply flipping them over to read the backs. She yawns tiredly, wishing she could sit down but knowing it would be a mistake. If she sat down she wouldn't get up again until she's slept off the day of mental and physical exhaustion, and who knew how long that would take.

Mirage looks up when she senses Kat's ire, tilting her head at the younger mutant. Now that her attention has been drawn to her sister, she was concerned. She hurriedly puts the book down and goes over to Kat, reaching out with her talent. She could feel traces of the powers belonging to Genesis and Joey all over Kat. "What happened to you?!" She asks bluntly.
One can hear the noise as Kat's jaw cracks from her massive yawn. "Long story." She says tiredly. The cat girl hasn't looked up at her sister since she'd arrived on the roof. She was simply to exhausted to care much about anything besides getting her stuff in her room and then falling into bed.
"You guys seem to have a lot of 'long stories' to tell." She chuckles, but sees Kat's exhaustion. "I think we'd better get you to bed." She says, shooing Kat towards the door that leads into the house. Really, Mirage could be just as bossy as Vision sometimes. Of course with Mirage it's more a matter of humoring her then anything else.
Kat is shooed reluctantly. "But, but, but..." She stammers, looking back towards Joey, Changeling and her books.
Mirage continues to wave Kat towards the door. "Don't worry about your books, I'll get them settled in the library."
Kat stops dead. "No!" She didn't want her books in the library, they wouldn't be her books if they were in the library. They'd be Vision's books. It was bad enough she was stuck with the overbearing older mutant, she didn't want her older sister to have control of her books as well as her life.
Mirage frowns faintly at her younger sisters feelings about her older sister, but doesn't comment. She supposed it wouldn't hurt to let Kat keep her books in her room. "Okay then," she says agreeably, "We'll put the books in your room. They'll be out in the hall until you rest up. Now off to bed." She gently grabs hold of Kat's arm and leads her into the house.
Kat has enough time to call a sleepy good-bye to Changeling and Joey before she disappears into the house.

Posted by Changeling on 2/21/2002, 5:23 pm
She smiles slightly the whole time, watching Mirage paw through Kat's books with the younger of the two worrying, then as Mirage leads the tired Kat off to bed with the promise to take care of her precious books. She watches a moment after they're gone, wondering if she and Joey should linger or just make their escape while they can without the eldest sister even knowing they were about.

Posted by Vision and Mirage on 2/21/2002, 5:30 pm
Vision looks up when Mirage bounces out of the room. Her gaze follows her younger sister's path, and she listens for sounds coming from the roof. She sighs and gets up, heading into her workroom. If Mirage were to get into trouble, she would be able to hear it from there.
Mirage settles Kat in her room, then heads back towards the roof. She had better start moving books.

Posted by Changeling on 2/21/2002, 5:36 pm
She decides that it would prbably be best to just go, but wants to say goodbie to Mirage at least. After all, the middle sister was, apart from Kat, the most civil of the three... especially for having dealt with the suspicion she had left them all in after her previous visit.
She glances at Joey to see what he thinks.

Posted by Joey on 2/21/2002, 5:39 pm
Joey blinks and look up as he realizes that he's being looked at. "Hm?" He asks questioningly. He'd obviously been lost in thought again.

Posted by Changeling on 2/21/2002, 5:47 pm
She smiles, slighty exasperated with his absentmindedness. "You think we should stay and watch Kat's books, or just go now before I make trouble again..." her smile turns rueful as she remembers what happened the last time they brough Kat home.

Posted by Joey and Mirage on 2/21/2002, 5:50 pm
He frowns faintly at her wording. "I don't think Vision'll come up."
Mirage's voice comes from the doorway. "Nah, she went into her workroom. My older sister doesn't usually go looking for trouble. Besides, you're not technically on her territory yet." She comes into view on the last sentence, a somewhat apologetic smile on her face.

Posted by Changeling on 2/21/2002, 5:59 pm
She smiles back, somewhat embarassedly at having been heard. She hesitates only a moment before thanking Mirage for her tolerance if not her friendship, and hopes that she didn't say the wrong thing. People are so difficult to handle when you are trying to be friends instead of just luring them into a dark alley... she shakes her head slightly at that thought, alarmed at having thought it at all, and hopes it didn't register to Mirage's acute senses.

Posted by Mirage on 2/21/2002, 6:05 pm
Mirage shrugs cheerfully, she could feel that Changeling didn't intend any harm. "Please forgive my older sister, she's just a tad too responsible sometimes..." She rolls her eyes. Vision did take everything entirely too seriously. One of her ears flicks, but she doesn't appear to have heard.

Posted by Changeling on 2/21/2002, 6:16 pm
She chuckles at that, but only a little, and it sounds sort of nervous. After a short pause, she asks "Umm, you don't need any help organizing those books, do you?" She doesn't really want to go inside, but she's perfectly happy to help Mirage gather up the books to take to Kat's room.

Posted by Mirage on 2/21/2002, 6:19 pm
She eyes the rapidly growing stack of books somewhat glumly. She hadn't enjoyed the thought of hauling them all back inside by herself. "Some help might be nice. Although I can understand why you might not want another encounter with Vision." She sounds faintly amused.

Posted by Changeling on 2/21/2002, 6:21 pm
She smiles slightly and nods, but something in Mirage's face, and maybe her voice, makes her want to risk it anyway, just to help.

Posted by Joey and Mirage on 2/21/2002, 6:24 pm
Joey continues to unload books. He seems to have spaced out again. It's slightly strange that the boy who doesn't seem so bright spends so much time thinking.
Mirage grabs a stack, picking up another two books in her tail as she turns around, then heads back through the door into the house.

Posted by Changeling on 2/21/2002, 7:01 pm
She watches Mirage go, then starts organizing the books into managable piles, hopint to make them easier to carry.

Posted by Mirage and Joey on 2/21/2002, 7:08 pm
She returns and hauls in another pile, wishing Paradox was around to help.
Joey finally finishes unloading all the books, and stands watching Mirage scurry back and forth.

Posted by changeling on 2/21/2002, 7:19 pm
She pauses, glancing up when Joey stops, and motions for him to help stack books.

Posted by Joey and Mirage on 2/21/2002, 7:31 pm
"Oh, right." He starts to help stack.
Mirage continues to go back and forth.

Posted by Changeling on 3/13/2002, 5:25 pm
After fnishing helping Mirage with the rest of Kat's books she steps away from the door and glances around. She thinks that this is probably a good time to leave, but waits to see if Joey wants to say any farewells.

Posted by Joey on 3/13/2002, 5:28 pm
Joey steps away from the door with Changeling, calling a quick good-bye to Mirage.
Mirage thanks them both, then says her own goodbyes.

Posted by Changeling on 3/13/2002, 5:31 pm
She smiles slightly at the thanks and procedes to the edge of the building. She didn't particularly want to fly in broad daylight, but she didn't want to go through Vision's house to get down either. So, with a sigh, she searches for the best place to descend, where no one would see either of them.
Or a staircase would be nice.

Posted by Joey on 3/13/2002, 5:33 pm
No such luck with the stair case. There's not even a fire escape, but they could drop down into the alley almost completely unnoticed.

Posted by Changeling on 3/13/2002, 5:36 pm
She nods, satisfied, and glances at Joey before moving to the edge and dropping off and opening her golden wings to slow her fall. Once she's on the ground she waits, considering what excitement the remainder of the day might hold for them.

Posted by Joey on 3/13/2002, 5:37 pm
He opens his own wings and drifts down after her, landing neatly beside her.

Posted by Changeling on 3/13/2002, 5:47 pm
She cocks her head curiously "You up for a nice flight at the beach?" after all that excitement, the private beach sounds like heaven to her.

Posted by Joey on 3/13/2002, 5:51 pm
Joey grins. "Sounds great."

Posted by Changeling on 3/13/2002, 5:57 pm
She smiles, relieved, and leads the way towards the ocean.

Posted by Joey on 3/13/2002, 5:59 pm
He bounds into the air like he was escaping from something nasty. He climbs into the sky, then pauses to wait for Changeling.

Posted by Changeling on 3/13/2002, 6:04 pm
She laughs heartily and follows. A few powerful wingbeats and she's aloft and gliding a featherlength away from him. This is nice, she wishes it could last forever... She does a roll and dive, then comes out of it with a giggle and resumes her relaxing flight.

Posted by Joey on 3/13/2002, 6:08 pm
He does repeated barrel rolls. Had she voiced the comment about wishing it could last forever, he would have agreed. Once he's finished his rolls, he just glides, smiling.

Posted by Changeling on 3/13/2002, 7:31 pm
She grins and watches, then closes her eyes and enjoys the feel of the sun on her back and wings. Oh how she loves the sun... it'd been torture for her when she couldn't even feel it... for centuries... She shakes her head and banishes all thoughts of her past, focusing only on the present and how good the sun feels.

Posted by Joey on 3/13/2002, 7:36 pm
Joey too, has his eyes closed as he enjoys the feeling of sun on his back and wind on his face and wings.

Posted by Changeling on 3/13/2002, 7:48 pm
She sighs happily, opens her eyes and grins impishly. She turns toward the water and dives, pulling up just in time to skim the tops of the waves with her outstretched hand. Oh, this is glorious! She gains some altitude and rolls a couple times for the sheer joy of it, then returns to Joeys side. She lets her thoughts wander, and somhow ends up considering their visit to the beach before, when they'd seen Cardigin. Was it true what Sky had told them? She ponders that for the time being, simply rolling it around in her mind without thinking too much about it.

Posted by Joey on 3/13/2002, 7:53 pm
He looks at her when she sighs, then grins back. He watches as she dives towards the water, tempted to follow her, but remembering the last time he'd done that and almost ended up plowing into the waves. Surprisingly Joey is nowhere near as spaced out as normal. He seems to be enjoying it too much to zone out and miss it.

Posted by Changeling on 3/14/2002, 1:55 pm
She glances at him and laughs at the lack of spacieness on his expression, then grins impishly and rolls underneath him, turning so that she's flying upside down for a moment.

Posted by Joey on 3/14/2002, 1:56 pm
He grins, having opened his eyes. He was on cloud nine.

Posted by Changeling on 3/14/2002, 2:11 pm
She starts to fall away, so she does another roll and rights herself, still flying below him.

Posted by Joey on 3/14/2002, 3:21 pm
He drops beside her, stil grinning widely.

Posted by Changeling on 3/14/2002, 3:30 pm
She wishes she could just bask in the sun forever, but the sunset is inevitable, so she enjoys her day as much as she can while she can.

Posted by Joey on 3/14/2002, 4:29 pm
He too, enjoys the sun while it lasts.

Posted by Changeling on 3/14/2002, 5:23 pm
She lands regrettfully and watches the sun sink below the horizon at the end of it's daily struggle. They'd better get started now, while there is still light enough to hide Joey's tendancy to glow in the dark.

Posted by Joey on 3/14/2002, 5:27 pm
Joey touches down with a small sigh, a half smile still on his face. He closes his wings, looking out onto the sea.

Posted by Changeling on 3/14/2002, 5:30 pm
She smiles and turns to lead the way back to the warehouse, half hoping that Tracker will show up, and half dreading it if he'd accepted an assignment that would take them away from here.

Posted by Joey on 3/14/2002, 5:33 pm
Joey follows, having gone a bit spacy now.

Posted by Changeling on 3/14/2002, 5:44 pm
She catches a glance of his face and sighs resignedly, if not somewhat amusedly. She continues leading the way untill they reach the warehouse, where she pauses at the alley, and again at the door listening.

Posted by Joey on 3/14/2002, 5:50 pm
He trails along beside, lost again in his own thoughts.

Posted by Changeling on 3/14/2002, 6:00 pm
She shrugs and opens the door, leading the way up the stairs and to the office, where she opens the window and peers out over the city, unwilling to go to sleep yet and just a little hungry.

Posted by Joey on 3/14/2002, 6:02 pm
Stands slightly behind her, peering out into the city over her shoulder.

Posted by Changeling on 3/14/2002, 6:07 pm
She sighs and takes a seat before the window, thoughts flitting through her mind to fast to be counted.

Posted by Joey on 3/14/2002, 6:10 pm
He kind of snaps out of it, and looks down at her concerned. He had hoped that the days events wouldn't catch up to her.

Posted by Changeling on 3/14/2002, 6:13 pm
She sighs lightly, unaware of Joey's proximity or concern, and leans against the wall closing her eyes. When she opens them and looks around she's a little surprised to see Joey still awake after sunset. She smiles at him.

Posted by Joey on 3/14/2002, 6:17 pm
He tilts his head at her, still studying her with concern.

Posted by Changeling on 3/14/2002, 6:18 pm
She shakes her head slightly, still smiling, as if telling him not to worry about her. "You tired?"

Posted by Joey on 3/14/2002, 6:25 pm
His expression is plainly worried anyway. At the mention of tired he yawns.. "Slightly..."

Posted by Changeling on 3/14/2002, 6:46 pm
She nods and yawns herself when after he does. "Hmm, I guess I'll see you in the morning then..." she smiles softly "Don't worry about me, Joey. I've seen things worse than that and survived a night." her voice is slightly teasing, and she hopes he catches that note and stops worrying.

Posted by Joey on 3/14/2002, 6:54 pm
Studies her for a moment longer, then forces the expression of worry from his face. She'd lived through who knew how many years, it's not like she needed someone hovering at her shoulder. "Right." He says, and retreats to his corner to sleep. "Night." With that, he's gone...

Posted by Changeling and Tracker on 3/14/2002, 7:20 pm
She smiles somewhat sadly at having to do that to him. She's strangely flattered at his worry for her, but it would only do him harm if he were to stay up all night. She sighs and returns her gaze to the city outside, thinking.
Tracker watches and waits untill Joey's vanished before appearing just behind Changeling. She jumps, suddenly aware of his presence, and turns to look up at him "Oh, Tracker! Where in the void have you been?" He shrugs "Around. I've picked up a job," he begins, hoping to catch her attention with the offer. She does look curious, but not as interested as he'd hoped. "Come with me and I'll tell you about it." he turns towards the door And if she doesn't agree to help, I can always just keep her out of the way untill the five days are up.
***
In the morning, Changeling is gone, as is Tracker, but the latter not for long. He knows that Joey wakes in the sun, so hurried to be at the warehouse before he wakes up, curious to see his reaction to Changing's disappearance.

Posted by Joey on 3/14/2002, 7:32 pm
The silver haired teen is a long time waking. Sometime around nine he snaps back into reality. It takes him awhile for his mind to properly wake up, so it's another half an hour before he realizes that Changeling is gone. He blinks, looking around when he doesn't immedietly see her, and stands to search the building. He doesn't panic right away, but his expression is rapidly becoming more and more worried.

Posted by Tracker on 3/14/2002, 7:35 pm
He watches, somewhat amused, as Joey wakes and finally starts to look for Changeling. Hmm, I wonder what she'd think of him if I told her it took him a half hour to realize she was missing...

Posted by Joey on 3/14/2002, 10:15 pm
He goes from worried to seriously distressed pretty quickly. Something small and blue wings into the building roughly a half hour later, just as Joey is ready to start searching outside. It lands on his shoulder. "Your spill over is making the entire neighborhood nervous." She says dryly.
"Eliza is gone!" He blurts, entirely too upset to care how idiotic he looked at the moment. He pauses in his step out the door, hoping Sky will have some good advice.
The 'bird' on his shoulder blinks. "What?"

Posted by Tracker on 3/14/2002, 10:18 pm
He laughs within his protective sheild, confident that neither the sound nor the mirth itself will escape his talent. This was getting good! He wonders if he'd get a bonus if he provided information on the other angel as well as Joey... Eva should find Sky's antics quite amusing.

Posted by Joey and Sky on 3/14/2002, 10:24 pm
Well, Sky's talent to pick things out of thin air is at work again, and she blinks and looks up, studying the exact spot that Tracker was in. After a moment her golden eyes narrow, she wasn't picking anything else up. She turns her attention back to the problem at hand. "Are you sure she just didn't leave to give you the hint to pack your bags?" She didn't think it was that either, but she had to be the sensible one here. Something that was quite frankly disturbing.
He blinks, his hurt and disbelief showing with perfect clarity on his expressive features. "I think she'd just ask me to leave, she usually speaks her mind.." He blinks, remembering the other day. Had that been a subtle suggestion that he should leave? He blinks again, eyes widening.

Posted by Tracker on 3/14/2002, 10:28 pm
He raises an eyebrow when Sky looks 'at' him, wondering if he's losing his touch. Maybe angels are more sensitive than even strong telepaths. Well, she didn't seem to notice anything after that first glance so he shrugs it off and continues his observance. This is getting more and more amusing the longer I hang around! I should have 'asked Changeling's assistance' earlier!

Posted by Joey and Sky on 3/14/2002, 10:37 pm
"Could it be that she was just being polite?" Sky asks, studying the silver haired teen. "Maybe she didn't want to be rude and she left to find herself another building so she wouldn't have to ask you to leave..."
Joey blinks once more, shaking his head. "I don't think so.." He blinks again, hurt by the idea that Changeling might want to get rid of him. "It's her building, if she didn't like my presence here she'd boot me out. She's never been shy about speaking her mind before.." He flushes faintly, remembering the first time he'd run into her tendency towards saying exactly what she meant. That first day when she had said she loved him.
Sky sighs, faintly amazed at how well Joey did the lost and hurt puppy expression. She couldn't continue that train of thought, not when faced with that. "Okay then, are you sure she just didn't wander out to find something to eat and let you sleep in peace?"
"Well, she might have..." That was the truth, it was always possible, but he couldn't lie to himself any better then he could to anyone else, and he knew it wasn't really likely.

Posted by Tracker on 3/15/2002, 9:46 pm
Tracker chuckles again, this is getting really interesting. He'd known Changeling's feelings toward Joey from the first night she'd brought him to the warehouse. The other, however, seemed to be capible of sheilding his feelings toward her, possibly even from himself. Now, on the other hand, the worry he's showing toward Tracker's female partner is slightly more than angelic protectiveness...

Posted by Joey and Sky on 3/15/2002, 10:10 pm
Sky looks up again, studying the area where Tracker was. That was decidedly strange. Even she didn't usually pick up stuff that wasn't there. "I assume you've searched the building thoroughly?" She asks distractedly, still studying the area the hidden mutant was standing in.
Joey nods, "I was about to go out and look for her when you popped in.." Something in his tone suggests that he'd like to continue what he'd started, and head out looking for her.
"Do you have any way to find her?" Sky asks, turning her attention on Joey. "There's not much point in going out to search for her if all you're going to do is wander about in a tizzy."
He would have retorted that he wasn't in a tizzy, but his angelic powers quickly pointed out that he was in a bit of a tizzy. He flushes slightly at that, glad that there was no one but Sky around to see just how upset he was. Angelic/mortal love was strictly forbidden. He didn't want to get himself in trouble, and he didn't want to hurt her by showing something that he couldn't continue. Not to mention that he'd have to leave if management ever found out. As selfish as it was, he'd much rather stick around.

Posted by Tracker on 3/15/2002, 10:37 pm
He blinks, concerned that his talent might not work well on Sky. She seems to have a special talent for pulling things right out of the air, so maybe his sheild isn't as impenetrable as he'd previously thought.
He continues watching and listening, some of his enthusiasm drained with the possibility that Sky could find him.

Posted by Joey and Sky on 3/15/2002, 10:53 pm
Joey sighs. "Well I've got to do something! I can't just stick around here all day, it'd drive me nuts! "
"What if she returns while you're out looking for her?" Sky asks, hoping to prevent Joey from doing something stupid.
That stops the silver haired teen dead. "Oh, I never thought of that." He looks towards the door, then something occurs to him. "You could stay here... and I could go out and look for her.. Then I won't go nuts and she'll have someone here if she returns... Please, Sky?" He studies her hopefully.
Sky almost recoils, those puppy eyes should be registered as lethal weapons. "Fine then, but if you're out there and I'm here you've got to cover for me." And hopefully whatever might come up would keep his mind off of things.

Posted by Tracker on 3/15/2002, 11:09 pm
He waits and watches Drat, now I can't watch them both... Well, at least it'll keep her from discovering my presence. He prepares to follow Joey whereve he might be heading.

Posted by Joey on 3/15/2002, 11:16 pm
Joey heads out, and spends a good deal of time wandering around. He drifts past many of the places that they'd visited in the past few days. He dropped past the beach, but didn't have the heart to stay long. Even with the breeze rising invitingly off the water, he only lingered long enough to ensure that Changeling wasn't there. He drifts past Vision's apartment, tempted to check in on Kat. He doesn't simply because he wasn't sure how the eldest sister would react to his presence, even if Changeling wasn't around. He spends a long time wandering before getting called to help out with something. A little girl had been hit by a car. Standing quietly in the background, he heals the girl then starts wandering again.

Posted by Tracker on 3/15/2002, 11:29 pm
He follows the aimless wandering, bored to tears untill Joey pauses to heal the little girl. He adds that to his mental notes of things to mention to Eva and continues following. He wonders if Joey will actually find where he's hidden away Changeling, but decides that if he starts to get close he'd show himself acting worried and lead Joey away.

Posted by Joey and Sky on 3/15/2002, 11:44 pm
He continues to do small things that range from helping an old lady across the street, to healing another person that had been run over by a car and was near death. Strangely enough, he doesn't get into even a minor amount of trouble himself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile Sky sits in the chair at the warehouse, twiddling her thumbs. This was so boring!
Posted by Tracker on 3/16/2002, 8:31 pm
Oh, the boredom... he follows Joey and takes note of his miracles as he's done for the past couple of days. At least when Changeling was with him there was some chance of excitement... he's behaving himself now even more than he was then! He sighs and resigns himself to following the angel all day. He wonders if Joey'll even come close to where he'd stashed Changeling in an old abandoned shack on the outskirts of town near the forest's edge. He supposes not, since he'd taken extra precautions against it. Not only was the shack hard to find, he'd knocked Changeling out incase Joey'd had some kind of telepathy that he could reach her with.
Posted by Joey on 3/15/2002, 8:46 pm
Unless something calls him out there, it's not likely that the silver haired teen will come anywhere near where Changeling is. He's decidedly subdued, actually thinking for a moment before he rushes into a situation. He's even remembering to look both ways before he steps into the street.
Posted by Tracker on 3/16/2002, 9:40 pm
He sighs, bored beyond tears. Was this going to get ANY more interesting? Maybe he should just let Changeling go and see what happens...
Posted by Joey on 3/15/2002, 9:40 pm
Later in the afternoon Joey is shanghaied by Kanga and is dragged around by her for awhile. He asks how Kat is doing, and actually smiles slightly when the roo-girl tells him that her friend is still sleeping it off, but is basically fine. At least something was going right today.
Posted by Tracker on 3/16/2002, 9:45 pm
He watches Hmm, maybe it'll get more interesting now... that one seemed to have had something for the boy. I wonder if he realizes it...
Posted by Joey on 3/15/2002, 9:50 pm
One would think it was obvious, the way she hangs off every single word he says, but it seems without a very blunt declaration of love, the fact that anyone might have a crush on him goes right over the silver haired teen's head. Now that Kanga's around, things get a little more... violent, as the deal with a group of teenagers tormenting a mutant.
Posted by Tracker on 3/16/2002, 9:53 pm
He watches, curious to see how obvious Kanga has to be to get Joey to realize that she likes him 'in that way'... He perks up a little at the action, watching to see how the nonviolent angel will handle it.
Posted by Joey on 3/15/2002, 9:59 pm
Had Kanga not been around, Joey would have tried scaring them off. However, Kanga is around, and perfectly used to working with Joey. The group scampers off after Kanga nearly cracks open a few heads. No one notices that Joey heals any damage that Kanga had done as they leave. The roo-girl is grinning, it was nice to be able to hang around with Joey again. She hadn't seen much of him in the last week because Eliza had been in his constant company.
Posted by Tracker on 3/16/2002, 10:07 pm
Tracker chuckles. Hmm, this could get interesting yet... He watches them leave, noting with amusement that the injured ones are healed quickly after they leave off.
Posted by Joey on 3/16/2002, 10:09 pm
They continue on their way, Kanga still grinning. This was much better, just like old times when the diner was still in one peice. Joey doesn't really seem to notice that Kanga's coming along to help him out.
Posted by Tracker on 3/16/2002, 10:48 pm
He's bored again, but now atleast has something to keep him ocupied. If things got too dry, he supposes he could always pop in and 'happen to notice Kanga's feelings toward Joey' and casually mention it to him...
Posted by Joey on 3/16/2002, 10:53 pm
That would only shock poor Joey out of his wits, and seriously tick Kanga off. They continue on their way, wandering and fixing small problems on their way. Kanga hasn't stopped grinning the entire time. Joey is spaced out as usual. Kanga doesn't mind, she's used to Joey spacing out all the time.
Posted by Tracker on 3/16/2002, 10:55 pm
He follows along, seriously considering pulling Joey aside for a moment and revealing a few things, if only just for the fun of it.
Posted by Joey on 3/16/2002, 10:58 pm
They seem to have run out of problems to fix, and now they just wander.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 3:39 pm
He's bored again, but now atleast has something to keep him ocupied. If things got too dry, he supposes he could always pop in and 'happen to notice Kanga's feelings toward Joey' and casually mention it to him...
That and clear his name by asking if Joey'd seen Changeling recently and that he had to talk to her. That way, he'd not be under any suspicion (if angels can be suspicious) as to what happened to his partner should he need to show himself again before the five days is up.
Posted by Kanga on 3/19/2002, 4:33 pm
It really was more fun when one had the diner to go back to, Kanga thinks as she studies the silver haired teen. Joey was completely spaced out, the worried expression on his face worried her. When they pause for a moment, she prods him in the ribs to get his attention. "What's wrong?" She asks, peering up at him.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 4:42 pm
He pauses, curious now what would happen when Joey answered. This could be quite interesting...
Posted by Joey and Kanga on 3/19/2002, 4:46 pm
Joey blinks. 'Hrm? Oh. Nothing much.." He really didn't want to explain, but saying that nothing was wrong was too close to lying for him to get away with it.
Kanga just frowns. "Yeah right." She pokes him again. "What's wrong?" She repeats, eyebrows rising.
Joey blinks again. " Eliza sort of... disappeared.." He answers, hoping that will be a good enough answer.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 4:48 pm
He continues to watch, amused And what will the girl say to that one? he chuckles at the thought that Kanga believed (and perhaps still does) Changeling a vampire out to get Joey.
Posted by Kanga on 3/19/2002, 4:56 pm
Kanga snorts, as if to say that's what Joey was so worried about? She manages to stop herself from saying 'good', correctly suspecting that Joey would not like it. "I'm sure she can take care of herself, she's a vampire after all.." She says, hoping it will cheer Joey up a bit.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 5:05 pm
He chuckles Yup, still believes the first truth. Tracker himself still thinks his partner is capable of returning to her prior vampiric condition and return to the hunting buisness with him. Well, this should be entertaining for a little while at least...
Posted by Kanga and Joey on 3/19/2002, 5:15 pm
Joey still hasn't brightened up much, so Kanga continues. "She's survived for who knows how long, I'm sure she can get herself out of any trouble she might get into."
At the mention of Changeling getting into trouble Joey's expression darkens a bit more. What if she was hurt someplace?
Kanga doesn't really notice the extra worry, she just knows that he hasn't cheered up yet. "Well you might as well enjoy yourself." She says after a moment. "It's not like you can do much until she decides to return."
That brings Joey's mind back to Sky's earlier comments, and his mood darkens further. What if that question the other day had been a subtle hint to get rid of him? One that he'd missed because he was too dense to catch it?
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 5:23 pm
He's nearly rolling on the floor with laughter. Oh, that girl is incredible! And she doesn't even notice that everything she says mokes him even more worried... this is even better than I thought it'd be! he doesn't know what's going through Joey's mind, but he'd heard the previous conversation with Sky and can figure it out from the expressions on the angels face.
Posted by Kanga on 3/19/2002, 5:31 pm
Kanga decides to shut up before she made Joey even more depressed, she's finally noticed that every 'helpful' comment she made further darkened his mood. She's faintly surprised that he was so worried about the vampire female. Eliza'd probably just gotten tired of hanging around such an obviously good person and went back to some of her darker aquiantances. Hopefully now she had Joey all to herself.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 5:47 pm
He finally gains controll over his laughter and wipes away a tear of mirth. Oh well, it doesn't look like she'll be offering any more depressing information... he considers making an appearance to further confirm Kanga's misconception of his partners nature.
Posted by Kanga on 3/19/2002, 5:50 pm
She bounces along silently at the silver haired teen's side. Having caught the mood from Joey, she's somewhat depressed herself now.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 5:54 pm
He sighs and decides that the roo girl isn't going to provide any more entertainment. Well, he could always just wait and follow along behind... but thats so incredibly boring he wouldn't know what to do with himself. He sighs again and moves ahead of the two, into an alley.
When he steps out, his sheild is down and he's wearing a worried expression. He moves toward Joey and Kanga, then seems to realize the former's identity and moves towards them more purposefully. Tracker is almost a better actor than even Changeling herself.
Posted by Joey on 3/19/2002, 6:01 pm
Joey is lost in a daze, so it takes him a moment to realize that Tracker was approaching. It takes him another moment to realize that the man was Changeling's partner. He looks almost hopeful when he realizes it's Tracker, and then the worried expression registers.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 6:05 pm
He reaches them, nods breifly to Kanga and returns his attention to Joey "You havn't seen Changeling, have you?"
Posted by Joey on 3/19/2002, 6:10 pm
His hopeful expression falls, and he shakes his head. "No, I don't suppose you have?" There's just the faintest hint of hope in that question.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 6:14 pm
He makes a face, apparently not noticing the crestfallen look Joey gives "Not since she took up with you... I've had, ah, buisness to take care of." he grins breifly, then sobers, looking more concerned than ever "How long has she been missing?"
Posted by Kanga and Joey on 3/19/2002, 6:23 pm
Kanga looks like she might comment, but restrains herself. Commenting that she hoped the vampire female remained missing would not endear her to Joey.
"Since this morning.. Or earlier maybe, since late last evening..." He scowls at that, annoyed with himself for not realizing earlier that she was gone.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 6:28 pm
He swears quietly "Any clue where she might be? I need to talk to her about a..." he pauses to shoot a wary glance at Kanga "Business opportunity."
Posted by Joey and Kanga on 3/19/2002, 6:35 pm
He shakes his head sadly, his mood snapping right back to dark. "No." He doesn't add that he wished he knew.
Kanga looks faintly suspicious. "A business opportunity?"
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 6:49 pm
He regards Kanga cautiously, as if trying to figure out if she's one to trust. He glances once at Joey, almost like he's asking him his opinion.
Posted by Joey on 3/19/2002, 6:51 pm
Joey gives a kind of a 'go ahead' kind of nod. Kanga was trustworthy, even if she occasionally worried him.
He nods ever so slightly and turns back to Kanga, voice lowered confidentially "Changeling my partner. We're hunters, she and I... She stayed here with Joey and I found someone to really... appreciate our job skills." he smiles faintly and returns to the subject at hand "Tell her that I want to see her soon if you find her before I do." he starts to walk away, but turns back and fixes them both with a careful gaze before telling Kanga that angels were probably not supposed respond to 'that sort of attenion', and moves off, disappearing into the crowd before vanishing into his sheild and doubling back quickly to watch the outcome of his careful wording. Not bad: a whole flock of birds with a single stone...
Her eyes widen slightly, and Kat was going on about how Eliza isn't a vampire! She snorts mentally, turning away. She obviously doesn't get the attention comment, wondering if Tracker had landed on his head recently. What did angels have to do with anything? If there was some deeper meaning in there, she wasn't about to waste her time pondering it.
Joey nods. "I will." His eyes widen at the comment to Kanga, and he goes red. Not another one!
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 7:28 pm
He's laughing so hard it's hard to breathe. The expressions on both of their faces are so priceless... He continues to watch, wondering if that visit is going to spawn any more excitement. He wonders if Kanga will ask Joey about that last comment, and if she does, what his answer will be.
Posted by Kanga on 3/19/2002, 7:31 pm
She doesn't ask, assuming that Tracker was one fry short of a plate. He'd have to be to hang out with a vampire on any type of permanent basis. She doesn't notice Joey's decidedly embaressed silence.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 7:35 pm
He chuckles and rests on the remainder of his patience, waiting for something interesting to happen.
Posted by Joey and Kanga on 3/19/2002, 7:38 pm
There doesn't appear to be a very good chance of anything interesting happening anytime soon. Joey alternates between worry and embaressment as various parts of the days events go through his mind. Kanga bounces along, somewhat spaced out herself.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 7:40 pm
He sighs and resigns himself to tagging along all day and being bored.
Posted by Joey on 3/19/2002, 9:24 pm
Supper passes, and Kanga says her good-byes. If she didn't catch dinner now at Vision's home, she most likely wouldn't get any.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 9:34 pm
He watches her leave and reluctantly resigns himself to following Joey. He wonders idly if Changeling knew Joey's feelings toward her, and if she infact reciprocated. It would be interesting if she did, and there may be a little more fun invovled if she didn't.
He hadn't been there on the first day, when Eliza had confessed her love to Joey, so of course he doesn't know.
Posted by Joey on 3/19/2002, 9:43 pm
Sunset begins to fill the city with it's red-gold light and Joey looks up from the half-daze he'd been in ever since Kanga had left. Without someone to keep him in the real world, he spaces out completely. He'd been walking without even looking where he's going, somehow managing to avoid tripping over his own feet and other pedestrians. He studies the setting sun. Did he even want to go back to the warehouse?
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 9:48 pm
He'd noticed the spacyness, and takes note. He seems even more absentminded now than when Changeling was around... He frowns, perhaps it would be better if he set Changeling loose... Heh, myabe she'll even start hunting me. he pauses to consider No, if I let her go now she'll warn Joey and he'll 'behave himself'... No... all I have left to do now is watch and wait. At least when he goes to sleep I can check back on Changeling.
Posted by Joey on 3/19/2002, 9:55 pm
He hardly had a right to be there if Eliza wasn't around... Not to mention that sleeping in the completely empty warehouse would be even more creepy then simply zonking out on a park bench..... But if he didn't go back he might not catch her if she returned. That decides him, and he turns towards where he suspects the warehouse might be. Belatedly he realizes he'd left Sky there all day, alone. He'd be surprised if the warehouse was still in on piece when he got there.. A bored Sky was dangerous.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 9:59 pm
He follows, blissfully ignorant of what might have happened to his temporary home while they'd been gone all day. He's bored now, and hopes that Joey knows the way back to the warehouse on his own... it'd be terribly awkward if he had to un-sheild and show him the way.
Besides, he's sort of looking foreward to playing with his former partner... she could keep him entertained for a few hours at least.
Posted by Joey on 3/19/2002, 10:04 pm
He's pointed in the somewhat the right direction, he would most likely find a area that he could find his way back from. He continues at his normal fast pace.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 10:07 pm
He sighs, relieved, and follows him back into familiar territory. He glances around at the darkening sky and emptying streets, planning what he would do as soon as Joey disappears for the night.
Posted by Joey on 3/19/2002, 10:14 pm
When Joey gets back into the area he knew, he breaks into a jog, just because he can. Strangely enough he's moving at a pace that would be a run for most people, even though he's only jogging.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 10:17 pm
He blinks at the pace, somewhat surprised, and begins to run along behind, thanking his partner for the excersize she'd insisted on to keep him fit. Still, he'd be pretty tired when they arrived at the warehouse. He hopes he'll be able to keep up his sheild, but incase he can't he works up a good excuse to have run to the warehouse.
Posted by Joey on 3/19/2002, 10:19 pm
He keeps up the pace all the way to the warehouse, and skids to a hault just outside the door. Tracker might note that he's not even breathing hard. He bounces up the steps, still full of energy. He stops dead in the doorway, staring at the sheepishly grinning Sky.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 10:21 pm
He follows up a bit slower, breathing hard, and stops just behind Joey in the doorway. He usually doesn't enjoy moving through people so he stays behind him, wondering why he'd stoped so abruptly.
Posted by Joey on 3/19/2002, 10:25 pm
He stares at the bright splashes of color all over one wall of the warehouse. Evidently Sky had gotten ahold of some spray paint and had a sudden burst of artistic inspiration, using the wall as a canvas. He blinks. "Where'd you get the paint?" He can't help asking, staring at the color as he tries to figure out what it was.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 10:27 pm
Paint?? he trys to peer around Joey to see what's on the wall.
Posted by Joey and Sky on 3/19/2002, 10:31 pm
Sky grins. "Some kids were going to use it on the outside of the building. So I... discouraged them, and they left their paint behind. So I figured it wouldn't hurt to put it to a good use...." She grins when Joey rolls his eyes, seeing the smile he was trying to hide.
"And you were bored." He states, sounding rather close to laughter.
"And I was bored." She grins again, affirming his statement.
Joey steps further into the room as he tries to figure out what it was supposed to be. After a moment he tilts his head, hoping that will help some.
Posted by Tracker on 3/19/2002, 10:35 pm
He enters close behind and stops in shock and amazement. She'd done this in a day? He's glad it's not really his home, he'd be most put out if she'd ruined anything of his... but then of course, he has everything of his with him. No problem there.
Posted by Joey and Sky on 3/19/2002, 10:38 pm
In the center there's a large black mass, topped with white, with a bit of blue near the bottom. It's surrounded in white, with another mass of dark and light near it. In the background is a splash of brilliant blue and white. Near the brilliant sky blue is a blob of green, white and blue. Beside the mass of green is a splash of brown, blue and red. "What is it?" Joey asks after a moment.
"Well, I didn't have the right color to finish Eliza's shirt. But everyone else turned out decently.." Sky comments with a grin.
Joey's jaw drops as it snaps into focus. Somehow Sky's description made it very clear what the mass of brilliant color was.
Posted by Uny on 3/19/2002, 10:44 pm
He squints I still don't get it. But then again, he never was very good with modern art-type paintings. He continues to study the wall, keeping his periphery focused on Joey and Sky.
Posted by Joey and Sky on 3/19/2002, 10:52 pm
It was a mural, with Joey, Changeling, Sky, Kat and Kanga. Basically everyone Joey had spent time with in the last week. His jaw remains hanging open until Sky reached over to push it closed. That snaps him back into reality. "I didn't know you could draw.." He says, still staring.
Sky grins once again, rather pleased with her day's work. "I can't, or couldn't, but apparently being dead improves what skills you have. Well, that and the fact that I added a bit of my personal flare.." She says the last bit offhand, something that makes Joey wonder what's up.
"What did you do to it?" He asks, peering at it as if he could see what she'd added.
"Oh, I enchanted it so you had to guess what it was for yourself before it'd snap into focus. Not to mention you have to know who's in it. Not hard to guess by the colors really.. I'm not sure, but I think it'll even alter itself... " She holds up her own arm to the mass of brilliant blue. It's almost a perfect match. She turns to study Joey, grinning again.
"Alter itself?" Joey asks, still staring. Sky just grins, apparently she wanted that to remain a mystery.
Posted by Tracker on 3/21/2002, 2:58 pm
He finally sees it and breaks into a fit of laughter. She'd had quite a bit of fun while they'd been gone, hadn't she? He moves closer to investigate the painting while Sky explains it's various virtues, shaking his head amusedly.
He turns back to study both of them, glancing for a moment out the window at the darkening sky.
Posted by Joey and Sky on 3/21/2002, 4:43 pm
Sky looks faintly amused as she catches the laughter, and turns to study the air around Tracker. After a moment she looks away. If there was a soul there that wanted to remain hidden, she'd let them hide. "So if you're back, I'll head out.." She says to Joey, walking towards the door.
His expression darkens, and he looks around somewhat nervously. He really didn't want to spend the night in this building alone, and yet he didn't dare leave it in case Changeling returned. This was going to be a fun night..
Sky stops, and turns to study Joey with her head tilted. "Then again, why spend the night in a tree while there's a perfectly good building right here?" She'd caught Joey's thoughts, but she knew that he would prefer that she pretended she hadn't.
The silver haired teen smiles slightly, nodding in agreement. He goes over to the window and stares out of it for a moment before closing the shutters. He sits in his usual corner, studying Sky. The blue feathered angel had shrunk herself and perched on the arm of the chair to sleep. After awhile he drifts off and vanishes. Soon, Sky too disappears and the warehouse is left looking like it's empty of life.
Posted by Tracker and Changeling on 3/21/2002, 6:20 pm
He watches the two finally vanish for the night, and waits a few moments to be sure they're really asleep before turning and exiting the warehouse. He keeps his sheild up as he makes his way to the old shack he'd left his partner in, just in case. You never know who might be watching, and a little paranoia had saved his skin more times than he'd care to count.
It isn't long before he reaches his destination, and pauses just outside the crooked door. If Changeling is awake, he'd be in trouble with his sheild down, so he keeps it up and walks through the door with a slight wince. He hated doing that...
Changeling is still asleep on the floor of an advanced holding cell. It is transparent as glass, but harder than steel, and somehow seamless. He peers at her through the walls of her prison and she stirrs slightly. Good, she's right on scedule... He wonders breifly if she could call Joey while he's asleep, but he's distracted from that thought as his incarcerated partner wakes up and looks around dully, not quite comprehending what's happened yet.
Posted by Joey and Sky on 3/21/2002, 6:35 pm
Joey shifts slightly in his sleep, muddled by disturbing dreams. Sky shifts slightly as well, picking up just enough to upset her own slumber. Niether has wakened.
Posted by Tracker on 3/21/2002, 7:07 pm
Tracker waits in his invisibity untill his partner shakes her head and looks around in alarm "Wha...?"
He grins and exits his sheild "Good evening, my dear partner. Sleep well?"
She glares at him halfway through the speech "Tracker, why?" she stands and feels the trasndparent walls of her cell.
Tracker laughs "Why not? Although I must say, it was much more interesting to watch him tag along with you all that way... and that little meeting with Kat's parents; Very entertaining."
She punches one of the cell walls and winces when it doesn't give way. To her credit she doesn't cry out, even though the knuckles on one hand are now bleeding. She merely looks back up at Tracker. He grins at her "Really, I actually thought you'd understand. You've been my partner for years now..."
She snarls at him, showing vampiric fangs.
He grins again "There you go! Much better! You've been human too long, you were much better as a vampire."
She snarls again, then concentrates and the fangs vanish.
The night continues if more of the same taunting and teasing, Tracker would get her vampire half to override her human half, and she'd fight for controll. By the rise of the sun, Changleing is exhausted and Tracker grinning as he left the shack to return to the warhouse where he awaits Joey and Sky's awakening.
Posted by Joey and Sky on 3/21/2002, 7:24 pm
Joey wakes, much earlier then he usually would and looks hopefully around the room. When he sees that Changeling hasn't returned he sighs, shutting his eyes and resting his head on his knees. Maybe she was trying to get rid of him. How long should he wait before assuming she wanted him go and leave the warehouse? He didn't want to inconvenience her, putting her out of a home while the fact that she wanted him to leave filtered through his thick skull.
Sky blinks into reality with a yawn, and looks at Joey. The silver haired teen looked extremely tired. He looked like she felt. Sky wasn't sure what had been disturbing Joey's rest so badly, but she had caught the unrest from him. She didn't even need to look around to see if Changeling had returned, Joey's expression told her all she needed to know. Now she regretted questioning him so thoroughly the other day. Now he was unsure of himself, and totally depressed.
Posted by Tracker and Changeling on 3/21/2002, 7:40 pm
He could almost have felt sorry for the boy... almost. He eases into a sitting position, glad that he is used to not sleeping for days on end. If he weren't, he'd be asleep on his feet right now. As it is, he wishes he didn't have to be the one to interrogate his partner, but a hunter of his reputation would be awkward to ask another to do what needs to be done. Besides, it is much more entertaining with Changeling, and he has his job to do here so there has to be some fun for him somewhere.
He'd have to remember not to stay up all night next time, give himself some time to sleep.
Meanwhile, Changeling had only been feigning sleep untill her partner had left, now she desperately wishes she weren't so exhausted from last night. She hopes her mind is strong enough to reach Joey, but has a feeling that he wound't be able to find her even if she did reach him. Still, it couldn't hurt to try... Joey, she reaches out desperately with the very last of her strength Help me... she can feel herself sink into the sweet oblivion of unconciousness, and hopes he gets at least a little of that message.
Posted by Joey and Sky on 3/21/2002, 10:31 pm
He sits bolt up right. If there was one thing Joey was always going to catch, it was a call for help. Especially If it was specifically for him. "That was Eliza!" He's on his feet and heading towards the door before Sky has time to blink.
Belatedly the blue feathered angel flits after him. "Joey you blockhead! Wait for me!" The silverhaired teen doesn't stop walking, but he does slow down. It takes awhile for the small angel to catch up with her larger counterpart. She lands on his shoulder, flicking the projection onto it's alternate setting, a non-descript sparrow. "What was that about?!"
Joey speeds up now that Sky's caught up to him. "That was Eliza."
Sky rolls her eyes, an expression Joey can't see due to the projection. "Well you've said that much. A little bit of an explanation would be nice."
Joey shrugs slightly, still speeding along. "She called for my help, and I heard her." Internally he's somewhat conflicted. He was glad to know that Eliza wasn't hinting that he should leave, but now he knew that she was in trouble someplace. The fact that he didn't know where she was is threatening to drive him up the wall. The fact that it was something she couldn't deal with, even with her vampire half, worried him greatly. "I've got to find her."
Sky blinks at the determination in his tone. Joey wasn't usually this.... excitable. "So do you know where she is?"
Joey shakes his head. "Not a clue, but I will find her."
"Even if you have to move heaven and earth?" Sky quips, trying to lighten the situation a bit.
"Right." Says Joey, perfectly serious.
Sky's eyes widen. Oooooh dear.
Posted by Tracker on 3/22/2002, 12:04 pm
He's caught a bit off balance when Joey suddenly jumps up and heads for the door. He curses under his breath and follows him quickly, grateful that Sky called him to slow down.
Well, atleast now he knows that Joey can hear Changeling from that far away, maybe he'd have to move her... it is only a matter of time before Joey runs out of city to search and starts on the outskirts. Then he'd have even less to move through to get to the little shack he'd hidden his partner away in. Well, he'd worry about moving her tonight... she'd most likey be too exhausted from last night to wake up any time soon, and even if she did, that nice little box he'd purchased for her should keep her well contained. He follows along behind the best he can, having a little trouble keeping up.
He's fairly surprised that Joey would actually go through such extremes as Sky suggested, his eyes widening as well. Well, well... that should be something to tell my dear partner... Properly edited, of course. And once we're out of this city. he adds as an afterthought. It would be most disagreable if Joey arrived while he was playing with her. Oh well, first things first. he turns his attention back to following Joey, wondering where he'd head.
He's also faintly curious if the angel would think to seek help, and if so, who. If he asked, would Kat help him? Probably, she seemed friendly to Changeling. Kanga, he's fairly sure, would only hinder the search. Mirage and Vision might help if their youngest sibling asked it of them, but not willingly. He thinks back over the time he'd been following the two for anyone else they'd run into... There was that man, Genesis... but he'd only be a passing aquaintence. No chance there.
He only draws upon what he knows of the people Joey and Changeling have run across, which is not nessesarily what would actually happen. He knows that, and knows better than to think he knew everything about those he'd observed.
Posted by Joey and Sky on 3/22/2002, 1:50 pm
"So, you don't have a clue where to find her, but you're planning to search until you do even if you have to turn over the whole city?" Sky asks, still riding on his shoulder.
He turns his head to eye the tiny angel on his shoulder. Then he can't help checking the other shoulder to see if there's a little demon standing there. " You should know better then anyone what I can and can not do. Saying I'm going to turn over the city could be taken a bit too literally." He comments to Sky, satisfied that there wasn't a little person in red riding with him as well.
Sky resists the urge to sigh in relief. She would have been really worried if he'd said that. "Isn't that a paradox? You're willing to move heaven and earth, but you're not willing to turn over a city?" She raises an eyebrow at him, good humor restored.
"Giving heaven and earth a little nudge probably won't hurt anyone, flipping over a city will." It'd impossible to tell if he's taking it entirely too literally on purpose, or if it was just a particularly strong attack of denseness. "However, I do plan to search until I find her. I don't care how long it takes." Joey adds, not noticing Sky's relief. His mind was on other things.
What he really needed was some way to locate her. Kanga always seemed to find him sooner or later, maybe she would be able to help him find Eliza. He turns and heads towards Vision's apartment.
Sky blinks at Joey's abrupt about face. "Where are we going now?"
"You'll find out soon enough." Joey answers, continuing to walk.
Posted by Tracker on 3/22/2002, 7:47 pm
Tracker follows along, taking in the two angels' conversation curiously. Again he wonders if he'd get a bonus for information on Sky... He notes the direction and recognises Joey's supposed destination. Thought so, he follows more confidently now, curious who'se help he plans on seeking.
Posted by Joey on 3/25/2002, 7:50 pm
Joey is just about to knock on the door to the loft apartment when it opens. The silver haired teen blinks in surprise and lowers the hand he'd raised to tap on the door. A rather surprised Vision blinks back at him. Joey was just about the last person she'd though she'd see here. Especially considering that he was alone. She scowls at him. "What do you want?" She asks without preamble. She had places to go and people to see, she didn't have time for Joey's shenanigans.
Joey blinks and recovers from his surprise. "Could I talk to Kanga?" He asks politely. This would be easier if he didn't annoy the shifter more then he already had.
Vision shakes her head. "No, I'm sorry. Kanga is out."
For a moment there he'd almost thought that Vision had been about to refuse to let him talk to the roo-girl. He frowns slightly when she says that Kanga isn't around. " Is Kat...."
Vision cuts him off before he can finish. "Kat isn't in good enough shape to go anywhere.. Especially considering your last encounter."
Joey flushes slightly, not wishing to be reminded. "Okay, thanks." He heads back down the stairs, scowling once his back is turned on Vision. Now how was he going to find Eliza? That was his only idea, well, aside from searching the entire city. After a moment he realizes that Sky hadn't commented the entire time, that was rather surprising. He eyes the angel on his shoulder. "Any ideas?" He asks her with a sigh.
"Well, did you get any sense of direction when she contacted you?" Sky asks thoughtfully.
Joey waves his hand vaguely in the direction of the shack. "That way."
"Well, you could start searching that way..." Sky suggests. "You never know, you might find something."
Joey nods, then heads out of the building and begins to search.
