The 31st Alabama & 17th Iowa Reenactors
Welcome to the homepage of the newly formed 31st Alabama and 17th Iowa reenactors. We are a family oriented group, who likes to get together to portray one of the greatest periods in history. We are located in Central Alabama, but have members from as far away as Florida. The original 31st Alabama Infantry Regiment was organized at Talladega, 16 March 1862, with men from Calhoun, Shelby, Cherokee, Montgomery, Randolph, and Talladega counties. We chose to portray the 31st Alabama because its formation location is so near where we live. We chose to portray the 17th Iowa because it captured the flag of the 31st Alabama on May 24, 1862, at Champion Hills, Mississippi.
