I remember well the dark days of 1985 (* kaff! kaff! *) -- when DC Comics destroyed the multiverse. Of course, it was their multiverse to destroy. I just didn't enjoy the year-long monthly torture inflicted on us poor suffering fanboys. Of course, I'm talking about that overblown monstrosity, Crisis on Infinite Earths -- and I'm glad that the Marvel Super-Heroes RPG© was there to help me recycle the pieces.

The Lobby of Alternity Among the debris left by Crisis was the concept of the DC Multiverse, in which literally anything could happen. While any one given story may not have fit in with the established continuity of any one given Earth, there was always an Earth where where it could fit; in fact, there were many Earths where a given story could fit, an infinite number, you might say. Then, all that story-telling freedom went away. The DC Universe, post-Crisis, was a much more limited and boring place in comparison.

To my way of thinking, there was nothing inherently wrong with the aforementioned maxi-series, and some parts are in fact quite enjoyable. Rather, it was the attitude of the powers-that-were at DC that caused the problem -- they showed a basic lack of respect for those artists and craftsmen that had been slaving away for the previous half-century, bringing us all the best buy in comics entertainment available.

I had a personal problem with the whole situation, and in response, I boycotted DC Comics for several years after the last issue of Crisis. (OK, I eventually relented. Thanks to back issues, I've since caught up on the goings-on.)

However, there was a solution to my problem, at least in my own basement -- TSR's version of the Marvel Super Heroes Role Playing Game©. I could at least pretend that the Crisis hadn't happened. These days, of course, DC Comics themselves pretend the same thing (I think they call it Elseworlds now, or maybe hyper-time -- who can keep track? It sure took them long enough!)

But things have changed, as they always do. Even though the concept of multiple Earths is back, too much time has passed. Modern readers, spoiled fan-boys that they are, would not accept the restoration of the greatest series of realms that used to meta-fictively exist. (I can almost hear their plaintive bleating now -- "WAH-H! It just doesn't fit in the continuity! WAH-H!") Once again, that's where the Marvel Super Heroes RPG© comes in, aided by stuff on this very Page.

Look around -- you'll be able to re-live the glory years of the DC Multiverse! Go to Earth-2 with the Justice Society! Fight the Crime Syndicate of America on Earth-3! Or strive to win a modern-day WWII, complete with hi-tech Nazis, on Earth-X! Or, go to a totally different realm! You can do all that, and more.

And, a note for the newbies -- if you have no idea of what I'm talking about, read the FAQ page. It might help.

What's New and/or Cool

Wow! An actual UPDATE! It's been far too long, I know -- but, it's real life getting in the way and such. Anyway, I just posted some stats for the Flash's Rogue's Gallery! And yeah, I know, a lot of these have already been posted here in different groupings. But hey, some of them are new. Check it out!

A PUBLIC APOLOGY -- I have just been informed that the timelines I used for Earth-1 and Earth-2, which I borrowed and pared down for use on this site, had no credit given for the work involved. I'm sorry! It was a clerical error that I have no excuse for -- the files in question, which had been posted here for over a year, were actually drafts for the real files, which were sitting here on my hard drive. The original, much more detailed timelines, can be found on Mikel Midnight's Cosmology Compendium site, along with lots of other alternate worlds and stuff. It's definitely worth checking out. Sorry again!

Check out the world description for Earth-H. I think it turned out to be a pretty cool place, for a home-made alternate Earth.

I am particularly proud of the personal histories I've worked out for the members of The Crime Syndicate. They were pretty much cyphers in the comics, but I tried to use elements of the Silver Age origins of their counter-parts to flesh them out, and make real characters out of them.

Likewise, I think the personal histories I've devised of Electra-Woman and Dyna-Girl turned out pretty well. It might even make them playable characters!
