A-Score:
Under the current Code of Points, this score tallies the gymnast's counted skills, combinations, and EGR. In theory, this score is open-ended, depending on the skills a gymnast presents.

A-Panel:
The group of two judges assigned to determain how many points a particular routine is worth. Also known as "A-Panel Judges". Each judge independently reaches his/her Difficulty Score, then the two compare and reach a consensus.

Aerial:

A stunt in which the gymnast turns completely over without touching the apparatus with his or her hands.

All-Around:

A category of gymnastic competition that includes all of the events (six for men, four for women). The
all-around champion of a meet is the gymnast who earns the highest total score from all events combined.

All-Arounder:
A gymnast who can or does compete on all four (women) or six (men) events. Also known as an "All-Around Gymnast".

Amplitude:
The height or degree of execution of a movement.

Apparatus:
One of the various pieces of equipment used in gymnastics competition.
Example: Parallel Bars, Floor, etc.

Arabesque:
Example: Nastia Liukin stands in an arabesque position on the balance beam.

Arabian:
A back flip with a half-twist before landing.

Arch position:
The body is curved backwards.

Artistic gymnastics:
Gymnastics on four apparatuses for women and six apparatuses for men.

Asymmetric bars:
