Here is some info on a different program you can use with other versions of PSO....now a bunch of people are gonna yell at me because they went out of their way to go find the non-plus edition....really sorry about that...but hey now that you have it, just sell the version you already have!

It supposedly works just the same as the PSUL program you download in the first post, so just follow the instructions in that post for this other program, that you did for PSUL 1.1. Do the same exact steps.
And for a reason why I only mentioned PSUL 1.1 only, and not the other programs, is because it worked for me, and PSOload didn't. PSOload is SUPPOSE to work for any version of Phantasy Star Online(even the card revolution) but the program didn't work for me at all, in any way, for any version. My gamecube would always freeze. so if this new(supposedly BETTER) program doesn't work for you, then just stick with the PSUL 1.1 that you can download from the first section of this tutorial.
again, sorry for any inconvenience, what I mentioned in the first section here, is the ONE AND ONLY process that worked 100% for me, all other ways I tried getting it to work failed.
ALSO You can use other ways to get the .dol file to load to your gamecube, instead of having to use a Phantasy Star Online game. yes, you do NOT have to use PSO to load .dol files to your gamecube to play SSBM online. But I do not know anything about this process, which is why I didn't mention it earlier. here are some links, I don't have time to write a step by step tutorial on it, especially since I don't know anything abouty it and I haven't tested it myself, so here is the link:

Some other things you will want to do to improve gameplay are messing with some options within gcars. Here are a few options to consider:
-Making the Update Speed FASTER(increases gamecube connection speeds, less desyncing/rubberbanding, but also less reliable)
-Setting the BA Speed option to the fourth option(100Mbit, Full Duplex)
-Set your Pad Address to 80000000
-Attempt to modify the player scripts. Currently there is no hacking tutorial written specifically for adding/modifying GCARS-CS scripts, but if you are really interested in getting into that stuff, its deep. Here is a huge tutorial on how to hack game consoles in general. You may find this info useful:

You will also need an extra few hacking programs on your PC to load code to your Gamecube. The most popular tool to do this is GCNrd, and GCNrdGUI. Do a google search on those if you want to know more.
You dont need to learn all that crap in order to modify scripts. You can attempt to make player 1 act as a "server" for the game being played, so that all players keep in sync better, and players 2-4 experience the same lag fairly. Here is how to do that::

Anyway heres the update:
Basically, there's a screen for you to edit the script of the players, labeled PLAYER X SCRIPT SIZE. These "scripts" are just codes that let both peoples gamecubes to keep in sync, which means less lag, hardly any 'rubberbanding' and are quite necessary to play correctly. This is all located within the gcars program. After you get it loaded to the gamecube, you get the this specific page from the main gcars menu: select Control Simulator>Edit Game List>Super Smash Bros. Melee v1.0 USA>Script 1 size. Now, you will already see some random numbers on the screen. Each line is numbered at the end (01, 02, 03) scroll down to the bottom of it using the c-stick. The last line should be 1E. When you reach the dashed lines at the bottom (this line should be labeled 1F), dpad your way to the INS LINE command and add 20 lines (just press A 20 times). Then go back up to the first blank one and copy, in order to be safe, these lines of code:

Once you finish that, click done and look at the size of the script, it should say something like 0000032, if i remember correctly. If it does, then you've most likely entered all of that correctly.
The next step is to go and delete all the lines of code from Player 2's script.
Entering all those lines of code may sound complicated and like too much work, but imo the ctr-gs thing was way more finicky and harder to get working than this.
The good news is that after you've done it once, you'll never have to type all that in again (Because if your using a good memory card, it saves all that info to it) (unless your data gets erased). Now, if you're wondering what all of that did, here's a quote of l3laze (Blaze) quoting DJ Veeman:

If you have Update Speed at 0, the game plays pretty well. Player 1 has some obvious advantage, he is basically acting as a server. If it is possible for your group of friends, have someones gamecube be player 1, and put all lines of code for all the other players into P1's script. This makes P1 act as sort of a server, so that every other player experiences the same lag FAIRLY, and a fair game can thus be played!
So from what I've understoof from playing and such, it runs all the code on P1's gcn and then relays it all back to P2, so unlike before, where there are two versions of the match going on on the scripts, P2's is constantly trying to update and make sure that it's not off. So it eliminates the awful rubber banding there was almost completely, although on some stages with many obstacles, it can still get desynched because of momentum or whatever, but for the most part, it's fun and very playable.
And about random items. Nothing adverse happens when you use them, and from limited tests, even pokestadium worked out pretty well. the thing with the hammer and turnips is that if the opponent uses either one, you most likely won't see what's really there. So a 3 from GW's hammer on your screen could really be a 9 and you'll just go flying like you normally would, so the effects of not seeing the right thing aren't too great, although with Peach, you'll never know which turnips to be especially careful of.

What do we have to do with this "Port Range Forwarding" stuff to get the game to play?? Well its very easy, it has to do with your router. Go into your router page from your internet browser(type the IP of your router, followed by and username/passowrd, usually the default IP for the router = 192.168.1.1 and the password = "admin")
I can't write a tutorial up on how to manuver through each and every kind of router, but I will be using screenshots for the Linksys WRT54G v5.0 router to explain what to do.
ANYWAY, get into your router main page with your internet browser(type the router IP in the address bar) and you should see a main page, something like this:
Click on Application and Gaming, and then click on Port Range Forwarding. You should see a page like this:
If your pages are totally different, or you are using a different router, refer to www.portforward.com To select your router and find out how to get to that page.
On that page just type in the numbers you see in that picture. Have "Start" set to 22064, and "End" set to 22066, and for protocol set it to THP and UDP(or both) then type in the IP address of your gamecube(whatever you set it to within the Phantasy Star Online network settings) then check the "Enable" box if there is one. Click on Save Settings, and that should be all you need to do. After that load GCARS, and try once again to connect with your online buddy. This process worked for me, and I'm glad I found the thread. Credit for this goes to someone who posted info at the fuzziqer forums

Again, thanks alot to everyone that has helped. Playing SSBM online is one of my best experiences EVER. Except for the rubberbanding, and relatively incomplete scripts, it is totally awesome that fuzziqer had created this program.

If you are STILL having connection problems...or the program just won't work...here is another common problem. It could be your antivirus. Now this may sound funny, but even if you have 'auto protect' disabled, sometimes it will still not allow connections between your PC and your Gamecube...EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE ON THE SAME ROUTER! ITs really stupid....but pretty much all I did to correct the issue, is I turned off a specific option within my anti virus called "Internet Worm Protection". This is found in Norton SystemWorks 2006.
Basically all you need to do is open up "Norton Protection Center" click on Home, then click on Security Basics, and then turn off "Internet Worm Protection". Now for some reason that is what has been blocking my Gamecube to connect to my PC. If you have an antivirus, try to navigate through its options to see if you find anything named that and it should make everything work. This is one of the reasons its so important that you at least have your antivirus disabled while you get connected.
