Season 7 Spoilers/Rumours

Tues 27th May 2003

Okay then, I'm still avoiding the spoilers so there's not a lot of news I can add right now so you'll have to bear with me for a few more weeks! Here's what I have so far:

End of an era

Buffy has finally come to a close State-side with the final ever episode due to air on Sky One on the 12th June. In slightly better news Angel has officially been renewed for a fifth season by those wonderful people at the WB so we do actually have something worth watching next year!

C4 loses out to C5!

After what seems like an eternity without Angel on terrestrial television, Channel 5 have bought the rights to season 3 onwards. It's due to start on June 2nd at 8pm so fingers crossed not too much will be cut from the episodes! (maybe they can teach C4 a thing or two!)

Firefly launched!

Firefly recently started on the UK Sci Fi channel on Monday nights at 8pm to a decidedly mixed response (well, a mixed response on the BBB anyway!) If you'd like to share your thoughts on the show, send us your reviews by email.

That's all the news for now folks, more to come later!

Mon 10th February 2003

I really have to update this more often! Sorry folks! New season is now well underway and we're beginning to realise exactly what was meant by all that talk of "going back to the beginning"! So, I guess I should really get back to the beginning and get some news updated, huh?

To spin-off or not to spin-off, that is the question...

okay, lame mis-quotage of Shakespeare there, but that is the question on everyone's minds right now. With each new day there seems to be yet another rumour out there concerning the potential season or potential spin-off. The latest rumour seems to be the increasing liklie-hood of a Faith, the Vampire Slayer spin off. Christopher Buchanan, president of Mutant Enemy, has been quoted as saying "I believe that's something that's being bounced around, along with other things, too".

Not really anything we haven't heard before really, but I promise we'll keep you posted!

Bye-bye Firefly...

Most of the cast of the doomed ship "Serenity" have now signed on for new jobs. Gina Torres is the latest to jump ship and will feature in the CBS drama "The Agency". She does hold out a faint glimmer of hope for Firefly fans however, "There's cooking happening," Torres says, "and that's great, the fact that they still believe in it. They're trying to work something out."

Watch this space!

Tues 14th January 2003

First of all, a huge Happy New Year!! Been a while since I've been in here so let me blow away some of the dust and make myself comfy again! Okay, all done! (Just call me "Shona, the Dust Slayer!" *g*) Right, are you ready? Then we'll begin...

Get the hankies ready guys...

Everyone's favourite cross-over couple have just announced their engagement! Alexis Denisof proposed to Alyson Hannigan over the Christmas holidays and the wedding is tentatively set for September or October this year! Huge congratulations from all of us here at the Stacks guys!

More cancellation rumours...

Yesterday BBC Radio 1's NewsBeat announced that Buffy was set to be cancelled due to poor ratings... (and the hilarious (tongue firmly in cheek here) early morning DJ Scott Mills just added his comment "Both fans are up in arms"...)

This all seems to have stemmed from another announcement from UPN (via CBS - the parent company of the US network) Dawn Ostroff - head of entertainment TV at UPN said: "We've been in discussions with Joss Whedon, the creator, and 20th Century Fox, and we're talking about a wide range of different possibilities. So we don't have anything to announce yet, but we're talking about a lot of different things."

This was followed up by a statement from CBS president Leslie Moonves: "One possibility, she comes back. One possibility, she comes back a couple of times. One possibility is we do a spinoff. Another possibility is we have a brand-new show Tuesday at 8 o'clock, and all of them right now are possible."

So in short there isn't anything new to tell you! Thanks to SciFiWire for quotes.

Good news for Lorne!

Andy Hallett, who plays the Karaoke demon Lorne in "Angel" has been confirmed as a regular cast member for the second half of the current season! More info at SciFiWire

Glory for Grimsby....

Clare Kramer is set to make an appearance in Grimsby's third Slayerfest at Caxton Theatre in April this year, the slightly odd venue has been arranged during Clare's signing tour of Britain by teacher Andy Evans, a fan of the series who has taken on extra marking to pay the fee! Details of how to get tickets are at the Grimsby Telegraph's pages.

Wesley's End Of Days...

Mon 16th December 2002

Well, it's getting to that time of year again, the geese getting fat and the memory of all that fake "snow" at the ends of Amends weighing on our minds... Ah well, forget the hustle and bustle of the Yuletide season and settle back to some Buffy news!

Taken away from C4...

The BBC have won the bidding war for the Steven Spielberg series "Taken" featuring non other than Ms Julie Benz. C4 were also in the bidding for the show but good old Auntie Beeb outbid them by a rumoured £2million. Scheduling details are still hazy but we'll keep you updated!

The Fantastic ... Wesley?!

Doug Petrie, now firmly entrenched as screenwriter for the upcoming big screen adaptation of the "Fantastic Four" film has been talking about his ideal cast... Charlize Theron as the Invisible Woman, Paul Walker (The Fast & The Furious) as The Human Torch, John C. Reilly (Boogie Nights) as the voice of The Thing.... and Alexis Denisof as Reed Richards, the man with strechier arms than Mr Tickle!

Scooby Doo Too...

Will it never end? Despite lukewarm reviews of the first live action adaptation of the cult cartoon, there are talks of not one but two sequels in the works. The cast from the first film are rumoured to be signed on for both sequels, including the talented (and increasingly busy) Sarah Michelle Geller and new hubby Mr Geller... sorry, Freddie Prinze Jnr.

Darkness Falls...

The trailer for Emma Caulfield's oft-renamed film "Darkness Falls" is now available online at the Sony website release date is still unannounced (or at least I haven't found it!) but again, we'll keep you updated!

Buffy makes the charts!

Okay, not the quite Top of the Pops, but Dreamwatch magazine have compiled a top 100 moments in SciFi and Fantasy for their 100th issue. In at number 19 is Buffy sending Angel to hell in Becoming 2 "You can't get much more heart-wrenching than this. All that love, wasted... Poor Angel. Poor Buffy"

Also in the chart at number 71 is the end scene of "Trial" from Angel season 2: "it's a truly shocking yet deliciously pleasing moment when mad-as-a-logo-change Drusilla suddenly appears at the episodes climax and turns the now-human-again Darla back into a vampire! All thanks to fiendish lawyers Wolfram & Hart..."

Big Bucks for Buffy

Sarah Michelle Geller is rumoured to have been offered around $750,000 an episode to carry on with the show into an eigth season...

Firefly cancelled...

Well, not quite cancelled, more a case of no new episodes being ordered by Fox. The campaign to save the show is still ongoing. For more details check out the Immediate Assistance site

Sing-along-a-Buffy!

Well, just in time for the BBC airing of the musical episode "Once More, With Feeling", PocketBooks have finally got their act together and released the OMWF songbook! Actually it's the shotting script together with the sheet music and some pictures bound in for good measure! Click here for the Amazon (UK) price and reviews.

Toon back on track?

Just as I was publishing this page I noticed an interesting snippet on E!Online... Apparently someone there thinks the Buffy Animated Series will be airing on Fox in January 2003.... This could be as a result of the Firefly cancellation or it could just be a mistake - I'll keep checking and keep you updated!
