During the Spring of 1930, Otis Oldfield arrived aboard the 19th Century American paddlewheeler, the Dover, as a passenger for her last excursion up the Sacramento River, from the Sacramento Delta, to Red Bluff (Tehama County) California. NOTE: The collection originally contained over 30 pieces, but most were lost while being shipped back from a mid 1930s museum exhibit in New York. These are the last remaining pieces. The paintings are in watercolor over charcoal, with india ink highlights. |
