9.30- Well, its been fun, but the after an ill-fated reunion, and due to rising inner-tensions in the band, the Arizona Quints have broken up once again, and forever. But then again, who would have predicted in 1996 that The Pixies would be touring again next April? Please check www.MiniatureAndPresidential.TK for info on Mike's solo project Miniature and Presidential. In true Lou Reed-worship style, he will be playing a few AZ5 songs (drastically reworked). Oh yes, and we broke up. The AZ5 are no more. However, we have all gone onto our own solo projects. I (Mike) will be continuing on as Miniature and Presidential. Our drummer has joined the legends of the Greenland Hardcore scene, Nuns Drink Napalm. The Bass Player has joined the Peace Corps and is building a hut for a poor Tibetan woman as we speak. and The Guitar/Key player will be fronting up his new band LycraSpandexLycra.
6.23.03- We have a new song up for download... It has a long title, so go here to hear it. Gunther, Hans, and Vic from Nuns Drink Napalm lent us their electric guitar stylings for this song, because Mike (who quit drinking) was the only band member who wasnt too hung over after one of Gunthers parties to leave their bed the day this was recorded. Also, we have some pics up of us and all the beautiful bands that we have played with (some of which may have been in dreams, not totally sure) go here to see them. To the left you see the studio we have been in all summer. This is the room that Gunther INSISTS we use (even though he has 5 rooms that are MUCH bigger), saying that he wants to "Go Phil Spector and Kevin Shields on [our] asses!" (which would be just fine if we sounded anything like My Bloody Valentine or The Temptations) He throws up a bunch of room mics and we go at it. definitely produces an interesting sound anyway.
6.16.03- Recording still commencing. Gunther likes to party a lot, so we dont get a lot accomplished, but its fun...and cold. We have a couple new AIM icons if you are a dork and sit around talking to people on the internet a lot, because like us, you are socially inept...or not. Right click and save target as. You may have to resize them...I dont know, havent tried them out just yet. THESE DONT WORK-Ill fix them if you email me and tell me you care.
6.4.03- So we are getting settled in Vladiviska Greenland, where we are the house band at a tavern and recording our new album with Gunther from Nuns Drink Napalm (what an amazingly bizarre man) We will be coming home (maybe, because we get paid a lot more here than we do there...) sometime in August, with an occasional one-off festival type show. Email us and tell us how hot you are while we are snowskiing.
5.4.03- New song up today. Another one coming soon. Got some really rad buttons in stock 4 designs to choose from, from our friends over at The Clandestine Project. Got some new stickers coming in tommorrow. email me and ill give you some.
5.1.03 New Comp!- I was informed today by Mr. Shawn Knight of Boyarm Records that the AZ5 have been approved for a Tribute Album to the Pope! Being raised Roman Catholic, I felt that it was only fitting that I give back to the church. This Tribute is due out late this year, or early next year, and will feature 245 songs (all 15 sec. or shorter) all paying homage to the Popes throughout the past 2000 years. I dont know which Pope will be my song's namesake yet. Go check out the Boyarm website for more information, to be included in the comp, or just because, like me, you loved playing role playing games on 8 bit nintendo.
4.27.03 New Album in the works.- Recording has begun for the new AZ5 album, "Milking One Memory For All That It's Worth". Since "Please Ignore the Off-Key Caterwauling" is almost sold out, and I don't really plan on making any more (hand stitching those covers was a pain.) MOMFATIW will most likely be 20 songs; 12 new ones plus the 8 from PITOKC. Tentative release date is June 31st. However, there are some songs from it available for free download on the Music page.
