EDUCATION I started off in Russia where I went to primary school and reached 2nd grade. This was the time when I started piano lessons, at the age of 5. When I moved to Greece, I went back to first grade and stayed there for a few months until I could understand the language. When we moved to another district I went back to public school but this time to 3rd grade as I was supposed to. I stayed in the Greek school for 3 years, until grade 5, when I had to go to an english college, St.Lawrence Collge. I stayed in St.Lawrence until the end of my school requirements, my year was the last in my college to write O'levels and the last to write A'levels, before they changed to GCSEs and GCEs. As I was finishing school, I was finishing my piano lessons, having been playing for more than 12 years. I had to do tons of compulsory lessons, including history and morphology of music, choir, sight reading, chamber music etc. I played very well on my final examinations and got a Teaching Diploma with distinction. UMIST was my first choice university and even though I didn't get the grades they requested, I still got in. The first 2 years were fun but boring, and the most difficult and interesting 3rd year was completed with a dissertation, exams and PBL work. Now I am doing a PhD and still got 3 long years in front of me. |
