Themesong by Hacken Lee

Remember once again, reminisce within the dream
It's your way of thinking that makes life sweet again
No matter how far the distance is between us, never give up
There will be a day when my feelings will change
And our problems can be resolve
You only need, you only need to see the real me
I really do love you

Every time I'm trapped in disappointment
I would wish you were by my side
Every time I'm happy, it is because of you
Only you don't knowI don't want to sleep alone anymore

When you reached a certain point in lifeYou would reflect on the past
I understand I did many things wrong in the past
Which caused your heart to break into many pieces
If I can go back and do things differently with you
Is something I can never forget

Subthemesong by Hacken Lee

I never wanted to think about the future
Just wanted to live each day peacefully
Only to realize that I can do something new

* Things has been planned for me already
Seeing you smile without letting the tears fall
Knowing that you're happy just caring for me

# It's hard to take your feelings back
Once you have already opened the gate
I should get use to this
I can get use to this
But my actions betray me
I want to write these feelings down
I was once distant and callous
Which story can guarantee
That next year, next year it'll be a better story

I've found my path
But I know that it can disappear at any time
I want to hold you tightly, to feel your warmth

Repeat *#

I want to tell you, to explain everything
But the time was never right
If that was you, you'd never have wasted precious time

My Fate (Subthemesong) -- Edmond Leung
(song #8)

If you see him, will you leave with him tomorrow?
All the things that are good in my life are not enough, right?
If there were no him, would you stay with me?
You have to find your heart's other half

*You and me together, is actually not a bad thing
But, there is always a but
I wait for you for you to wait for me
Who will wait for the ending?

Can I
#Wait with you for the lover you have not encountered?
For this is my fate
I'm afraid that one day while waiting for you
My lifelong dream will be shattered
How much does he really love you?
And you sigh a deep sigh

If you haven't met him, will you be with me tomorrow?
Do you think you can grow to love me?
Do you think I qualify?  Do you think you can be mine?
Who would be better if you decide to accept me?

Repeat *

Can I
Wait with you for the lover you haven't met yet?
For this is love's fate
I'm afraid that while waiting for me
My own heart will break
How much does he really love you?
And I have no more breath

Synopsis

This series is mainly about a mom seeking her long lost son.  Gigi Wong Suk Yee plays the mom, Edmond Leung is her younger son is a cop while the MIA son is played by Hacken Lee.  I found the series to be refreshing but not very exciting.  Similar to "
The Green Hope", this series contains a fresh cast.  Gigi hasn't been seen since she retired from show business (I don't remember her but my mom says she used to be pretty popular).  Hacken and Edmond hardly acts so it's nice to see them finally get a chance to showcase their talents.  Margaret Chung plays a fellow police officer, whom at first likes Edmond but ends up liking Hacken.  New faces (to me anyway) are Michelle Yip who comes in between the two brothers, Chan Kwok Pong (Edmond's co-worker), and the actress who plays his girlfriend, Patricia Lui Chuk Ki.  The rest of the cast includes Hacken's buddies (from the series); Jerry Lam, Rain Lau, Yuen Siu Cheung, and other familiar faces.

Hacken and his buddies (there's five of them; I mentioned 3 of them but don't know the names of the other 2) grew up in Temple Street taking care of Michelle and they treat her like their younger sister.  Hacken is the leader of this gang and they are very lazy.  The only one who has a full time job is Michelle while the rest of them just want to sleep during the day and play at night.  But being located on Temple Street, they each have their own little stands they set up each night selling different things.  I believe Hacken sells sunglasses, while the rest of them sell clothes, and Yuen Siu Cheung tells fortunes on the street.

Edmond is a cop who gets transfer to the EU (I think it stands for Emergency Unit) department.  It just so happens that that particular unit patrols Temple Street.  Being a TVB series, conflicts arise between the two brothers (but they don't know their brothers yet).  Gigi is Edmond's mom who owns a wonton noodle shop along with her 6 younger siblings.  Her life long wish is to have Hacken back.  Hacken was kidnapped when he was 5 by a neighbor who couldn't have kids of her own.  Gigi bumped into the husband of that woman and since his wife passed away, he can tell Gigi the truth now.  But, ironically, that woman who kidnapped Hacken lost him in Temple Street so he doesn't know where Hacken is either.  A determined Gigi decides to go to Temple Street to search for her son.

The only clues she has to go on are the fact that Hacken likes to eat only the inside of an egg tart (a Chinese baked desert) and that he has a scar on one arm.  With her motherly instincts, she tracks down Hacken.  Edmond tells his mother that she is being foolish when Gigi decides to move to Temple Street to be closer to Hacken and find out if he is really her son or not.  At first, he refuse to let her move, but he changes his mind when he sees how determine his mother is.

Michelle meets Edmond and she falls for him.  Margaret joins Edmond's team and she wants to hook up with Edmond (actually, they used to date but she broke up with him but now she wants him back so there's lots of tension between them).  In order to get Margaret off his back, Edmond pretends to date Michelle but he later ends up falling for her for real.

The good news is that after taking a DNA test, Hacken is in fact, the long lost son.  But the bad news is that Gigi has some type of bone marrow cancer and only has a short time to live if there is no proper donor.  Everyone tested to see they could be a donor, but no luck.  Hacken moves in with his mother and brother so he can spend more time with them and help take care of Gigi.

Gigi changed her son to be a better man.  Hacken learns to work hard and even decides to open up more franchise of his mother's wonton noodle restaurants.  Gigi, Hacken and Edmond slowly become a close family while Hacken distances himself from Temple Street and his friends.  Margaret falls for Hacken because he's different.  He changes her from a spoil brat to a mature woman.

Without Hacken's leadership, the Temple Street gang falls prey to a corrupt "friend" who wanted to use them.  Somehow, each and every one ended doing something dirty for this "friend" and by the time they realized they were being used, it was too late.  The five of them become fugitives from the law with Edmond and his team wanting to capture them.

Gigi's condition worsens.  In order to make his mother happy, Edmond asks Michelle to marry him so that his mother can witness his wedding before she dies.  Michelle agrees.

Hacken and Michelle try to help them so they had to lie to Edmond but Edmond thinks that they are cheating on him behind his back so he confronts Michelle.  Edmond accidentally let it slip that Hacken has a crush on Michelle.  This causes Michelle to be confused as to who she really loves.  Hacken reassures Michelle that he only thinks of her as his sister now.  That the one she truly loves is Edmond.

In the end, Gigi found a donor and lives.  Michelle marries Edmond.  Hacken flies to LA to find Margaret cause he realizes that he really likes her.  Everyone lives happily ever after

I thought this series is a typical TVB series and didn't find anything special about it.  It has the same formula where the two long lost brothers didn't get along, fighting over the same woman.  The only reason I rented it was because I wanted see Hacken act.  He was funny hosting Jade Solid Gold and he was funny here.  Edmond was a little stiff, I don't know if it was because his character is supposed to be stiff or his acting.  Gigi was great at portraying a mom torn between her two sons.  Margaret was annoying (I still liked her best in DIF 3).  Michelle needs to work on her emotional acting.  The parts where she is supposed to be crying didn't quite hit the mark.  I saw no tears so I knew she was faking the whole scene.
