You are in the Briefing Room of
Due to the nature of this web site, which is mostly pictures and memories, it tends to take a longer time for the pages to load. Here at The Crew Lounge I am trying to correct that. This is my first attempt at a web site and as I learn what works best, I will be making those changes. 1. Putting fewer pictures on a page. 2. Scanning at a lower resolution, yet trying to keep the quality of the pictures up there. "Touch ups" and other photographic tricks to show the subjects in their "best light" need your feed back, so let us know if it works. 3. Putting the pages up on the web according to dates, thereby allowing return viewers to go directly to the page they have not visited before. Conversely, they can return to a favorite without going through the entire web site. LATEST HINT: If you bookmark the last page you viewed, you will not have to return to the first page for the latest addition. It doesn't help that geocities and yahoo have merged, which also presents some glitches of its own. Most noticeably, delays (sounds familiar) in getting to the site (gate) and loading the pictures (passengers). HINTS that work with either the Internet Explorer browser or the Netscape browser:1. While the page is loading, running the cursor over a picture will display the contents of that picture. Right click on the picture then select "view image", this will load that picture alone with none of the remainder of that page. You can choose to select "reload image", which will reload the image and the page. Use your browser's back arrow to return to the page that is loading.2. Clicking on the "refresh" or "reload" page button of your browser will also reload the entire page. It still requires patience. You can always read the text on the page while the pictures are loading. So.....re-read it!!!!! BROKEN IMAGE ICON: Right click in the space where the picture should be, then follow Item 1. above. HINTS are a little different for AOL users. This site is better viewed with Netscape or Internet Explorer. Minimize AOL to your task bar and use either the Netscape or Internet Explorer browser. If you must use AOL's built-in browser, the photos will show up better if you make the following adjustments, however, the pages will take longer to load: For COLOR: 1. For better color of the pictures: go to "My AOL", "Preferences, "Graphics", "Set Color Mode" to "more than 256 colors"........then OK AND, for QUALITY: 2. For sharper, clearer pictures: go to "My AOL", "Preferences," "WWW", then "Web Graphics" , there UNCHECK "Use Compressed Graphics" ........then OK (You do not have to be signed on to make the above changes, these changes can be made at any time. You can always return to the AOL default settings. The AOL default settings provide for faster loading of the web pages on AOL.) I hope your flight with us brings back some fond memories and more importantly, that you see someone you know. Have a good flight and come back soon. The Crew Lounge Don't forget to file a Flight Report! I am working on a "sign our guest book", "view our guest book" ......eh, log book that is. My first goal is to get as many different people up as soon as possible, in an attempt to make this site more interesting. The log book is going to take a little while longer. Until the log book is off-the-ground, you can send an e-mail. If you have a favorite picture of your own, tell me about it, maybe I can arrange to have it included in The Crew Lounge.
