The Cross Ministries was founded by Pastor Kobena Charm in response to a need following missions work in the summer of 2001 in Ghana, Africa. In June 2001 Pastor Charm and Pastor Brandon Bond, under the direction of the Holy Spirit went to Abuesi, in the Western region of Ghana to conduct a Gospel campaign and plant a church. Following the success of the campaign, in which about thirty people were saved and baptized, Pastor Charm felt directed by the Lord to found the ministry to serve as a catalyst for missions partnerships with churches and ministries across denominational and national boundaries. The mission of the Cross Ministries was born out of the need to reach neglected or unreached places in Africa, especially villages and small towns-places that churches don't go to either because they've not seen the need or because it isn't feasible to do so. The first church planted in Abuesi was adopted by Robberson Prairie Baptist Church, Willard. When Pastors Charm and Bond contacted Rev. Joel Childers to take the church at Abuesi, he accepted the challenge and has since been heavily involved in nurturing Robberson Prairie Chapel, Abuesi and in spearheading the mission of the Cross Ministries in Ghana. Last year, Rev. Childers and a team of five from his church joined Pastor Charm to go to Ghana and strengthen the Abuesi church and also to hold seminars for pastors and Christian workers. The team is going back in the summer of 2003 to continue the work and plant more churches. |
