Under 11's Cricket
When we say "Start 'em young" at Woodhouse Grange we really do mean it.  Mick Langton and Nigel Lendon's expertise and experience help Woodhouse's first level of young cricketers become acustomed to the game at and early age.  We do have some very enthusiastic young cricketers at the club and this has been shown by Andrew Bilton's signing by Yorkshire - he came through the same system with Mick and Nigel.

Other prospective young cricketers that have caught the eye in the recent season's friendly matches include young off spinner Iain Jozefowicz.  Other very enthusiastic youngsters are Chris Bilton (son of Russell and brother of Andrew) and Scott Reeves (son of 2nd team captain Peter), who despite not yet reaching double figures in age still train and practise hard.

The under 11's proved a great success at giving the real young players some idea of what match situations are about and they won the majority of their 8 match programme against other local clubs.  Hopefully this system will continue to capture youngsters at an early age so that we can keep them intrested until more competetive under 13 and under 15's cricket comes their way.

With the restructuring of the Woodhouse Grange junior system there have been changes in the coaching of the Under 11's for the 2001 season.  Many thanks to Mick Langton, who has decided to step down from the junior committee this year, for his work with the under 11's for the past few seasons.  Peter Reeves has thankfully taken his place and hopefully his partnership with Nigel Lendon will lead to continued success for the Under 11's section.

Now we are delighted that the YDJCA have organised a set of under eleven matches for this season in which each team has a guarenteed programme of 6 matches.
