Promotion History
Founded on March 17th, 1998 by two of the biggest
independent wrestlers of the time, The Buzz and Dark(Later dropped out). ECFED
was instantly a force to be reckoned with due it's ability to draw in the top
independent talent available at the time. ECFED was a blend of original story
telling and high impact wrestling. However as good as it was. It was simply just
another independent promotion in the midst of the huge slump of 1998. Top
promotions began to shut due to top brass executives deciding wrestling was not
right for their respective television stations. This was good news for the # 1
Promotion at the time. who remained stable until the next year. At this point in
time charges were filed against the promotion, labeling it as a monopoly. The
promotion would be shut down by the Supreme Court within 3 months. Various
contracts were bought out from the promotion by independent
promotions.
One such promotion was ECFED. From here ECFED
would go on to become a global mainstay in the world of wrestling, and would
host many memorable wars between some true greats. Men such as The Buzz, Ace,
Chris Smith, Chris Jericho, Joe Mac, Masked Angler, Taz, and
many others helped give moments to the sport that would be remembered forever.
As ECFED approached August of 2003, times were great. However a huge legal
breakdown ensued after many wrestlers were either injured or "unrightfully"
fired from ECFED. By this time The Buzz had nearly signed all of his power over
to a board of directors who were basically running the promotion, as he prepared
to make a full time return to the ring. That fulltime return was cut short, as
ECFED went dark for over 5 months. The reason for the promotion shutting it's
doors temporarily, a trial. Men such as Brent Miller, Blader Black, Steve
Austin, Devil's Advocate, and others would testify against the promotion that
gave them their huge breaks, or rejuvenation.
Was this the end for ECFED?......Well if you really
are asking that question then slap the hell out of yourself. Obviously these men
had no case, as they had no true proof for what they had instigated. The trial
was thrown out, and as we stand here today ECFED is prepared to once again take
it's place at the top of wrestling. Under new leadership,(many of the board of
directors stepped down before the trial)ECFED, is ready to take on the world.
Their are many changes to ECFED, however. ECFED will run two seperate "brands"
in an effort to give more talent a chance to shine. The Buzz has signed away the
remaining amount of power he posessed in his creation due to burn out, and the
urge to wrestle full time once more. Champions will travel between brands to
defend their gold. Pay-Per-Views come very rarely making them a truly
spectacular event to witness. Will ECFED return to it's former glory, or will it
just ride on it's own former coattails?
Championship History
World Championship: Very few men have had the honor of
wearing one of the most prestigous titles in wrestling. The very first champion
was "The Human Suplex Machine" Taz. His reign was cut short by his good friend,
The Buzz. The Buzz along with Booker T would go on to win the World Title the
most times in ECFED(5x and 4x respectively). Interestingly enough Buzz is the
only man to vacate the title repeatedly due to ownership duties. The shortest
championship reign belongs to Chris Smith who would have his ankle shattered by
Ace's Corporate Dynasty a mere week after winning the belt. The most recent men
to hold the belt are Matt Hardy Xtreme 1.0 and the current champion, Joe Mac.
King of the Deathmatch: The e in ECFED stands for extreme,
and that is just what this division was and is all about. Notable champions
include: Taz, Raven, J-Dogg, Subway, and the current champion, Mike Dangerously.
While this division occasionally loses steam as the competitors drop like flied
due to injuries, it always makes for pure excitement.
Ironman Championship: What do you get when you mix the best
technical and high flying wrestlers outside of the World Championship? The
Ironman Championship! This title was forged in the year 2003. Only two men have
worn this already prestigous championship, The Masked Angler(Current and 2x
Champion) and "Perfect" Paul Cross. The Ironman Division is always sure to pack
a punch, and for these great wrestlers...the sky is the limit. Tag Team
Championship: Tag Team divisions and ECFED do not get along well. However when
they have it has made for some exciting action. One of the huge goals of ECFED
in the future is to provide one of the best tag team divisions ever in
wrestling. Champions include Larger Than Life(Jericho & Buzz) as well as
hall of famers Edge and Christian.
Memorable Feuds(These are just a few of the classic
rivalries throughout the years of ECFED.)
The Buzz vs Ace: A heated rivalry that dates back to both
men's early days in the sport. Ace had always felt that Buzz stole his spotlight
whenever they were in the same promotion. This rivalry turned up a notch as it
became not only a battle in the ring, but a struggle for power from August of
2002 until as recently as August of 2003. The feud was finally ended as The Buzz
along with Joe Mac and "Severe" Havoc defeated the Corporate Dynasty(Ace, HBK,
Blader Black, and Matt Hardy) in Wargames X.(See rulebook for match
description.)
Devil's Advocate vs Mike Dangerously: A feud that began in
both men's days in the Orient. Devil's Advocate debuted less then a month after
Mike Dangerously and began this blood feud without any reasoning. Soon we would
find out that it was Mike Dangerously that almost KILLED Devil's Advocate in a
Deathmatch, while both worked in Japan. Many bloody matches ensued in the short
time between August of 2003 up until October. The feud took a horrid turn as
Advocate hung Mikey with a chain on the pay-per-view, Last Rights. Miraculously,
two weeks later Mike Dangerously returned from his hospital bed. But he was a
changed man or should I say monster. He would go on to break Devil's Advocate's
neck by brutally hanging him over the top rope of the ring. One has to wonder if
this is truly over for good.
Paul Cross vs Masked Angler: It began as a basic rivalry
over the newly created Ironman championship. However, it evolved into a bitter
feud with Paul Cross unmasking many of Angler's protege`s to get into the head
of the masked one. It would end with a 45 minute draw inside of a steel cage.
However, if both are to be in this revival of ECFED...will the rivalry continue?
Taz vs Chris Jericho: A short but memorable feud, which
included Jericho dressing as the former World Champion, and mocking him in his
own hometown. Jericho gained the upper hand in this feud, and managed to steal
the vacant World Title right out from under the nose of Taz.
Drake Vandenhart vs Bee L: All that can be said of this feud
is that it heavily revolved around the now defunct television title, and spawned
three great matches before both men left the promotion for reasons
unknown.
