ABOUT ME
Hi!

    For those of you who've not met me, I am a Public Library
Director by day, and writer pretty much the rest of the time.
I am married, and we have two children who who are, in fact,
children no more. We are very nearly on the brink of being empty-nesters.

   We live in rural Indiana with our three golden retrievers, Liberty , Duchess, and  Derby, and house cats, Cinngin and Misty Cat of Doom; who answers only to "Kitten".  We spend more money in critter-chow than we do at the grocery store.

   I began writing about 11 years ago;   poetry, at first. Fleeting thoughts or feelings, short, broken lines seemed to work best for me. I was so unsure of myself that I wrote in a spiral notebook for over 2 years without anyone knowing.  Looking back I do not regret it. I needed that time to develope my "voice", to become more confident in my craft. I didn't think anyone in their right mind would want to read my writing anyway. In my notebook, I was safe. I could say anything I wanted to. In that safety, I was free.

Cheap therapy? Maybe...

But I can safely say that my life has never been the same since I began to write.  I'm thankful that my gift is creating beauty with words.

Words can cut deeper than any sword. Sometimes the wounds never fully heal. But words can also bring healing, comfort, encouragement, strength and mercy. That is what my writing is all about. If any of it touches someone, makes them laugh or cry or gasp in shock, then I have done my job. I couldn't ask for more.

   I began writing fiction, interestingly enough, the day after John Kennedy Jr. died in a plane crash. Don't ask me why, but that affected me so much. ) On some level I just identified with him and I thought it was so sad that he left us so young. Anyway, I began writing; living the life I wanted to really live because who knows???

    To date, I have 2 novels  published;
Roses's Kiss, Legacy of Rhoslefain, and The Compass Rose, Return to Rhoslefain. The first book is set in Britain, in the year 1309. Lots of mystery and intrigue with a little romance thrown in too. This book was originally published through I Universe in 2003. It is now in it's second edition through my own small press called, Tower Window Press, in association with www.cairnwood.net , and printed at www.Lulu.com. The second book, The Compass Rose, is set in the same location of sorts three years later but jumps back in time significantly. There is a third book slated to finish out the trilogy; the working title is The Stone Rose.

     I also have 1 non-fiction book on a local murder case from 1909 entitled
Who Murdered Sarah Snearly?, and 4 poetry collections, entitled Castle DanceVoices Near The Abbey GateOctober Whispers, and Looking Through The Gothic Window in print. These were published locally, and are only available by contacting me by email at  theendofthebook@yahoo.com

    I hope this explains a little bit about me and why I write. The rest of my pages will be exerpts of my poetry and fictional writing, and little bit about some of my favorite things. I'm into anything medieval or Celtic in origin. I'm also into early European history,  St. Brendan the Navigator, St. Brigid,  Family
genealogy, and the Archangel Michael. I invite discussion on any of these topics!

   Thanks to all my family and circle of close friends who support everything I do. I love you all!
