THE RENEWAL
FIRST YEAR - FIRST SEMESTER |
01
- THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING
College
begins with a bang with classmates filled with positive and outgoing energy!
The first picture here is the first group picture I have from College,
we were conducting interviews of the faculty. In the 3rd picture
(far
right), we were told to wear all red to represent BroadJourn on the
Opening Day of the CLA Sportsfest... we also took our first visit to the
Museo. And in the last picture (bottom), we're just chilling
out at the Teatro booth. Tope (William, guy in blue shirt),
is the only guy to have applied for Teatro and make it as one of four probees
of that Org in our class.

- HOME AWAY FROM HOME
With
my life changing from that High School drift to a College rush, I also
wanted to change a lot more. I wanted to move out of the house and
live in a dormitory where I can escape the trapped atmosphere and live
free (well, almost). I moved into an experimental Men's dormitory
last June 10, 2002 inside the campus with my close friend from HS, Lance
(see
HS-G7
page). Dorm life is new, fun, and very interesting.

- FROSH PARTIES REIGN
As
passive and as dull the night time scene of Lasalle Dasmariñas can
get, the University couldn't prevent Student Organizations from putting
together parties for their new Freshmen. For the AB Com Program Council,
they threw together an acquaintance party for the three AB Com and one
BroadJourn first year sections. This event was entitled "Froshnyte"
(1st
two pictures). The day afterwards the USC (University Student
Council) gathered bands and some DLSU-D Alumnai (specifically from
AB Com) in the name of Slick Rick of Magic 89.9. It was an event
entitled "Freshmania", and the theme was 70s. A contest was held
and out of so many girls present... my high school friend (and member
of G7, see page) won the title of
Ms. Freshmania!

- THE BURNHAMS RE-ENACTMENT
This
was the premiere event that exposed my block away from the shadows of "Broad-what?"
and into the light of the University. It was during the Buwan ng
Wika (Linggo ng Wika as well) that our professor Mr. Lakandupil
Garcia encouraged our class to put together a re-enactment of the Burnhams
hostage tragedy of this year 2002 as our presentation during the Competition
and Parade. With the talents and hard work of fellow classmates,
we put together a powerful presentation which bagged us 3rd Place, which
was pretty high and only CLA-block in any year level to do so. Not
to boast, but we needed that exposure for a nearly invisible class.

- LIFE AS A VPAPU PROBEE/font>
During
my time as a Probationary member of the VPAPU (Visual Performing Arts
Production Unit), we had to aid several shows of the first semester
of the SY 2002-2003. Our Mock Show (first picture) was a test
to see how good the new members of this Org are by staging our own show.
Another event was the PAG (Performring Arts Group) Acquaintance
Party which involved an episode of "Mister Marmalade" (see 2nd shot).

- JOU1-1 ON NSTP-CWTS SURVEYING/font>
The
Philippines removed ROTC this year and in it's place was NSTP which gave
the incoming generation of College students the choice to pick either ROTC,
Community Service, or Law Enforcement Training. The last one wasn't
available and everyone was interested in the Community Service or CWTS
(Community
Welfare Training Service). It exposed my classmates and myself
to survey missions in the Dasmariñas resettlement area where we
were all assigned a family to collect data on.

- OUR FIRST RECOLLECTION IN BATANGAS
Every
year there's a Recollection and our first Recollection took place on September
12th and 13th, which happened to be a Thursday and a Friday the 13th.
Together with Tourism 1-1, we enjoyed a spiritual recollection with our
own Re-Ed Professor, Mr. Marvin Lepardo. The event was two days and
one night, short but just right. It was a fun event that bonded classmates
closer together.

- IN OUR LASALLIAN UNIFORMS
Here
are two pictures of us wearing our LaSallian Uniforms. The first
picture is in front of JFH, which is our home building and the main building
for CLA students. The second picture is one inside the classroom
and was taken with classmate Leah's camera.

- BACKSTAGE OF A VARIETY SHOW
Since
my camera doesn't have a strong flash, most of the performances by my classmate
failed to develop on film. I managed to get a few shots though after
the Variety Show for our Literature Class. Our Literature Class is
handled by CLA's "King of Theater" which is the UP-Theater Student Mr.
Larry Tolentino.

- DORM LIFE AT THE END OF A SEMESTER
By
the end of the Semester much of the dorms had shaped up. Now that
everyone knew each other and were Friends, we could all study together,
play Coutnerstrike together, watch TV together, and just talk together.
In the 2nd picture are the occupants of F3 this first semester. Lance,
my high school friend. And the othger guy is Jan, from Cavite City
and a 2nd Year student.
