Using FTP Software:-

Using FTP is an easy task. You have FTP client software such as WS_FTP LE or Cute FTP & many more. Before using an FTP client, you should know a few things about your account such as your username, your password,the host name/address (machine where you will upload your files). For this information, you will have to check up the “FTP Help” of your web hosting service.

Once you have this information in hand, the whole process becomes extremely easy. You have to open the FTP program, put in the required information (host name/address, username, password), connect to the site, highlight the files to be uploaded, & finally click on the uploading option [(>) in case of WS_FTP LE] to transfer your files. That’s all, you can have your web site up & running!

You can also download a file for offline editing from your web host using FTP. Don’t forget to keep the backup of your files on your PC as some FTP programs will not ask to verify whether you are sure to delete that file.

Using WS_FTP LE:-                                                                            i) Start WS_FTP LE. You will get a window titled “Session Properties.” Enter the Host Name, User ID, & Password that you have collected from your hosting site. Click the OK button.  ii) Now, WS_FTP will connect you to your hosting site where you want to publish your pages. After connecting, you get a window similar to that of Windows Explorer. On the left side, you can see documents on your Hard Disk & on the right side , you can see the remote host. iii) Browse to the directory where you have your files stored & select them.  iv) Now, click on the front arrow (>) to transfer files to your web hosting service or backward arrow (<) to transfer files from your host to your Hard Disk.  Click here to get WS_FTP LE.
