Red means BAAAAAD!   Yellow means Goooood

First off, this page is being done out of frustration with the internet and SLOWNESS! Its been a bad day on the farm. Right now I can tell you EXCITE.COM  SUCKS and MSN.COM SUCKS. SPRINT Telephone Company also SUCKS. Thats the company who has our telephone service out here in the boon docks of  E. Texas. We want have cable or DSL here until its no longer the fastest way to connect to the web. By the time we can get it there will be something better.  In the mean time we are  stuck with kflex or 56K v90 modems that can't compensate for an antique phone system. Hell, they just now got caller ID.

More about why excite and msn sucks later. And I'll take up Sprint Telephone with the FCC.

I have been using the internet since it became common for home use. A long time. I started out like many, on AOL.COM (and it SUCKS too). I left AOL when they switched my long distance carrier to AOL Long Distance, (without my knowledge or consent) ( now some other name), putting it on my credit card.  The credit card company refused to stop honoring their charges because I "used the service". Now tell me, when you pick up the phone to dial long distance, do you really have a choice of what carrier your using? You just assume your using the one YOU choose.  This resulted in me refusing to pay that portion of the credit card bill, which resulted in me having that on my credit bureau report, but, ITS THE PRICIPAL OF THE THING!

Leaving AOL was a blessing because I learned that the only reason I need an ISP is for the phone number. I do not ever have to see their site. They all offer more or less  the same dribble. Some are faster than others, thats about the extent of it. I use  Juno.com  now because its only 9.95 a month, they don't log me off in the middle of downloads and its just as good as any others I've tried. They also have a free version but forget that. It also SUCKS.

To set your dial-up connection to start where YOU want it to,  right click on  the IE icon, go to properties, and on the General tab simply change the address from what ever your ISP has it set up to go to, to where you want it to go.  I log on using Internet Explorer. For example,

Your ISP address that is now shown there may be http://www.risecom.net

                Change it to http://www.alltheweb.com

Next time you use IE to log on to the internet you'll go to the all the web search engine in this example.

I don't know what most people do on the internet, but I use search engines more than any other thing. There are many lots of people have never heard of like  All The Web.com . Its super fast and one of the very largest there is. You will find sites there you will not find on the rest of them and you'll find them in much less time.   Want to give it a try? Use the search box below.

FAST Web SearchWeb Search

Another good search engine is  Google.com . You will find it thorough, get some different information and while not as fast as alltheweb.com it is good.  There are many many search engines you don't hear about if you use only your ISP's search box. All better than what is presented to you when you first log on to the web. Some others I use are  NorthernLight.com  and   Brightgate.com . There are many others you can try out. Raging Search, Copernic, Refdesk, Dogpile, , Scour, Ask Jeeves, Top Click, Vivisimo, Savy Search, Mamma and Meta Eureka. Or you can search for "search engines" and find some of your own. Webaholic also.

One day soon I will link all these so you can check them out easilly. Over-all, All The Web is my  favorite.

Some other things that suck are Internet Retailers that are all to happy to sell you something, but if you need service afterwards your S_ _ _ out of  luck. Tigerdirect.com, SUCKS.  I bought a computer from them. They have never answered my first or last phone call for service, they have never responded to my first or last (6) emails for service.  Don't make a major purchase from Tiger Direct.

Be very careful what you buy over the internet. Never count on service from the online retailer. Odds are real good there will be no service once they get your money. This includes software purchases. If you have to download it, but sure you copy it to a cd because if you loose it, your probably out of luck.

Compaq SUCKS. The computer I bought from Tiger Direct was a Compaq. 7 Days I spent on the phone with compact. 4 1/2 hours the first day, 3 1/4 the second. Took a break the third day. 4th day 2 1/2 hours, 5th day 5 hours and on the 6th day they told me after 1 1/2 hours they were sending me new software.  I had uninstalled and reinstalled the OS 5 times with them on the phone and three by myself before they decided to send me new software.  New software did not solve the problem after 3 hours of installing and uninstalling.  They sent someone out to replace, now get this, a new motherboard, a new AMD processor and new memory. Then I used the new software to reinstall the Operating System and finally the computer works BUT, its slower than my old pentium II 266 mhz. processor.  Neither AMD nor COMPAQ will talk to me about that. UPDATE ON THE COMPAQ: 5/26/01 ******* Finally, being sick of this computer I reformatted the hard drive and did it MY WAY.  I ordered the Free CD from compaq with all the latest drivers, sat and looked at every one, about 70 to determine what drivers I needed so I could selectively install them. Reformated the hard drive, installed the drivers. Recovered 6 gb of space leaving off all the "Compaq" stuff and the thing is much faster and more stable.  Compaq denied that this could be done but folks they lie. It can be and should be.

My advise, never buy a computer that you have to use their OS. Dell and Compaq are two that I know of. I'm sure there are many others. Have one built. They cost no more and then you can do it YOUR WAY.

Is there a good place to go on the internet to file a complaint about on-line retailers? I've tried three, filled out their long complaint form only to find that when submitted I would get a message that "this page is not available on this site".  If you know of one please  email me .

Now some online retailers that DO NOT SUCK!

I have bought books and software from  Amazon.com  and never had the first problem with them. They answer inquiries, make it easy for you to track your purchase if there is a delay in receiving and they answer inquiries via email.

CdNow  is another reliable, good internet retailer. They even assisted me in a purchase from a site that simply had their logo on it but was in no way affiliated with cdnow.

Be careful buying software that promises to boost your internet connection. I purchased Internet Boost and it all but shut down my system.  InternetBoost is the site that has all these pop ups and banner ads saying "your internet is too slow".  There is a simple little free program that may help you out called Easy MTU. Search for it, download it and it will help more than the $30.00 afore mentioned rip off.

I should mention here that there is a web site called websitter.com that boost your internet connection speed free of charge. You have to let them monitor your surfing habits however. I tried it, it was much faster but I also had a lot of pages that loaded with errors on the page.  I  uninstalled it via their web site as instructed but I am now still getting these error messages. I would not recommend it.

There are tips and tricks you can use to do it yourself. Visit my favorite  web site  for good, dependable information and lots of free downloads for making your system run better.   Langa.com  is my personal favorte. He puts out a newsletter you can subscribe to, either the free version or the $10.00 a year version. Every single issue is guaranteed to have something in it you can use. Even if its only a joke.  Or, you can simply visit his web site. Click on the link below to go to Langa.com

This site started out a web graphics site and still  is. I just got really riled today!  Next time I get teed off I'll probably add to it, in the mean time maybe you benefited a little from my temper tantrum. I hope so.

Excite and MSN have got to be the slowest places on the whole WWW. Why would anyone subscribe to MSN?  What a horror. I think Bill Yates has forgotten where his priorities should lie.  As for Excite Mail Service, they need to find a new toy cause this one is broken.. They even want you to pay them to list your site.....
