Topic 1) UGA Is Not Below Me: - By Me
I'm really sick of people telling me that I'm selling myself short by only applying to UGA and making it my top school. I don't care what school Alem applies to/gets into/gets scholarships to. I am not Alem. I'm not Brad, and I'm not Jenni. Wherever they end up going, more power to them.
But for myself, UGA meets my needs. I've got my tuition paid for until I screw up. I can play 'major-of-the-month' until I puke. It's not too far from home. I've got friends there and 30,000 more to meet. And by God, it looks like a lot of fun!
I'm not going there to appease my mom. She'd be happy for me no matter where I go. UGA is actually a pretty tough school and I wish people would stop looking down on it. They rejected my sister for cryin' out loud. It's certainly no Perimeter.
So I'm gonna go to UGA, and I might have a lighter load than those at other schools, but at least I'll be enjoying myself and studying what I want. Emory is Science; I am not Science. Tech is Engineering; I'm not Engineering either. I don't know what the hell I am, but I hope to find myself in my years at UGA.
And maybe y'all are forgetting about Matt Johnson, who was Central's valedictorian in 1999. He's at UGA, and he's so much above me that I can't even see him from down here. But I'm sure he'll tell you that UGA is much more than a "party school." I'm gonna go to college and get an education, dammit. So get off my case about it, ok?

Topic 2) Small Talk is Yummy: - By Shannon Mylander
I like to meet new people. It's strange that when I try to talk to someone new, they get all freaked out and such. It used to be that people liked to be social, whether it's with old friends or new classmates! I feel very badly for those who are suffering from social anxiety, for meeting new people is fun and exciting! You get to know something about the world by listening to another person's view on life. I love hearing others perspectives on love, life, and even simple things such as music and school. Why do people shy away from small talk with a stranger? I don't understand. I wish people would introduce themselves to me. I'm sure they will find a very kind, humorous person. Anyway, I know that was all random but I think it needed to be said. Maybe this will make its way around the world and we will all unite as one. Haha! Or maybe you'll just meet your next-door neighbor and fall in love! That would be interesting. Thanks for your time, and if you have no idea who I am, find out and come introduce yourself one day!! ~Shannon

Topic 3) Cat's Song of the Week:

Closing:
I hope you all had a happy Christmas and enjoy safe, halfway-sober New Year's Eve. Hey, I get a buzz off of sparkling grape juice--perhaps you should give it a try, too.
