| All we have heard about the September 11th Report is the 28 blank pages. All sorts of rumor, innuendo, and gossip are sailing around regarding Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Foreign Minister, Saud al-Faisal, met with President Bush and other Administration officials today, trying to sort out just exactly what is going on in this mostly presidential candidate and media driven frenzy. The truth was told on Sunday about this entire mess, but so far, I think everyone completely missed it. Tim Russert just let it all slip away and missed the boat on this issue during Meet the Press. During the second half of the show, Mr. Russert introduced Senator Bob Graham (D-FL), Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL), Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and Representative Porter Goss (R-FL). After letting Senator Graham rant his usual ravings about the Bush Administration and letting Representative Pelosi make much ado about nothing, Senator Shelby made the comment that most of the 28 pages could be released with no problem. Then, Representative Goss made the most impressive comments and Tim Russert, along with everyone else who rehashed Meet the Press over the rest of the day, missed. Here's the quote: "I believe that the reason the 28 pages are blank-and not to give everybody an opportunity to write their own script, and a lot of that is going on. There are three reasons we classify information. One is protect sources and methods. Another is protect ongoing investigations. And another is to protect what I will call sensitive foreign liaisons. There's no question that we are concerned about foreign government support. And it is not just one country. It is many countries. Now, these particular pages, I believe, are justified in being held back now, and if you read recommendation 19 of our recommendations, it specifically says that we request an active investigation. That investigation is under way. We do not want to contaminate that investigation. I believe that these pages will be made available publicly at some point when that investigation is completed. In the meantime, if there's concern that we are not following the necessary crumbs on the trail to protect ourselves from foreign government activities supporting terrorists, please dismiss those concerns, because we are aware of these things and pursuing them actively." Tim Russert just brushed those important words aside and went right on to his next question, directed at Senator Pelosi. Did he not hear what Porter Goss had just said? Maybe he needs to go back and read the transcript. This explains it all. There IS an ongoing investigation into whatever these 28 pages contain. President Bush was asked about this today when he was taking questions with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and he said, "There's an ongoing investigation into the 9-11 attacks and we don't want to compromise that investigation." He continued, "If people are being investigated it doesn't make sense for us to let them know who they are." He went on to say, "Secondly, we have an ongoing war against al-Qaeda and terrorists, and the declassification of that part of a 900-page document would reveal sources and methods that will make it harder for us to win the war on terror." I do not see the need to keep this issue alive any longer. To do so is purely political and inexcusable. It seems to be quite apparent that some of the 9 Democratic presidential candidates do not seem to care that the dirty politics which go on in our nation directly affect what goes on all over the world. We should be the example to the world and keep our politics clean, truthful, and above board. I find it all shameful! Let the investigation continue and don't intentionally leave out the fact that it IS continuing and the last word will NOT be 28 blank pages! The fact remains that Pelosi, Graham, and Shelby are no longer on the Joint Intelligence Committee, but Porter Goss is - he is a permanent member and chair! That's who I will trust in this matter.
