Puck Dots (narrow)
This is a pretty basic drill to do off ice, but it can be challenging and fun. Set up anywhere between 10 and 20 pucks in a straight line leaving about 30 centimetres, (or 12 inches) space between each puck. It should look something like this. ....................... Using a golf ball or stick handling ball, stick handle (dribble) the ball so that the ball passes through each space as the ball goes side to side. You should walk down the line of pucks with one foot on each side of the line. The line of pucks will be under you. Remember to ‘roll’ your wrists as you handle the ball. This is called “soft hands” which means you cradle the ball as it goes from side to side. This will help to avoid slapping the ball from one side to the other. Start out slowly focusing on smooth movements and being gentle with the ball. Build up your speed as you get used to the drill. Make it fun by seeing how many times you can do it without losing control of the ball, or have a competition with a friend. Remember to make it fun. |
