Ok, let’s do some in depth complaining today. Last night, my boyfriend and I were talking about God and organized religion, and it got me thinking, somebody needs to straighten out the misconceptions about Christianity. Number one, it’s not an organized religion, and it wasn’t meant to be. Number two, if you’re going to argue the Bible – read it first – the whole thing – not just the cover (c/o my boyfriend). Number three, Christians are supposed to accept and love each other – faults and all. Number four, Christian music does not define how “pure and perfect” of a Christian you are – your spiritual growth does. So I’m going to talk on these points tonight. I admit, I’m not a Christian, but I’m not hypocritical, either. I act the same way in church, at home, and in school. I talk about the same things; the only difference is my respect. At school, it’s minimal, but when I’m at home or at church, the respect is much higher. Why? At school, I get a little comfortable with my buddies – that is if I’m with them, so about 98% of the time the respect at school is the same as the respect at home and church.
I’m not afraid to talk about God. . . just because I’m agnostic does not mean that I’m anti - religion. People have this misconception that Christians are supposed to be extroverts – we’re not mindless robots programmed to give the same info and behavior. Everyone is different, what makes Christians so unique that they can’t be different, too?  Another misconception is that Christianity is an organized religion, and that the Bible was written by a bunch of white men. I’m sorry, but you’re mistaken. If you say that, you must be thinking about the “Christianity” racists believe. The Bible was written by all sorts of men through different ages – which also disproves that they all wrote it together, which also disproves the “fairy tale” theory. Plus these men were of different races and backgrounds. Um, yea, they weren’t all white – nice try, but no dough. So, what happened that Christianity became a little organized? What always happens to a good thing? It gets perverted. Yea, that’s right. . . we’re only human – we’re not perfect. So naturally, you’ll just have to forgive us.
Next point. People like to debate the Bible. . . without reading it first – not just people who don’t believe in God, but Christians as well. There’s a verse in the Bible about tattooing and piercing yourself it says not to do it – FOR OTHER GOD’S. Some people tend to miss that part. If you’re going to pull something out of the Bible, don’t pull it out of context – a lot of Christians love to do this. Why? I think because it makes them feel holier – than – thou. It’s not right, and if you do this, you are being unjust to your fellow man. Christians don’t like to accept each other. They’re the most challenging people to get along with – with the exception of a few. Before I went to the church I go to now, I had maybe. . . hmm. . . 2 good friends out of the entire youth group. I was at that church for five years (I hold no resentment, by the way) and I was not accepted, and not just that, I saw people show up for the first time and be accepted. I’m not accepted in school, and that doesn’t bother me, but at church, it bothered me. When I started going to my new church, the number of friends increased dramatically. By the way, we are on point three. I have my faults, and so does everyone else, and I happened to not like cliques. This is why I generally accept anyone, especially those not accepted by others.
Christian music is up now. Christian music is great – I have no problem with it. I like a lot of it. What I don’t like is how people use it to judge your spiritual growth. Umm, Christian music doesn’t make you grow spiritually. Your relationship with God determines that. So, need I say more? Yes, it’s a great thing – stop perverting it. So as you can see this point is my shortest. I’m off. Be yourself. . .
