L E G A L S T U F FUpon entering this room you accept the basic rules of -roleplay- that we have set for this roleplay chat room. Inside this room your actions as a character will be clearly defined as separate from your typist. And as a willing participant of this chat room you accept that all valid rulings and judgments will be dealt with by the impartial judicial system of our room council. This website has been based of a number of sources. Some we have written ourselves. Some, like this web template, we owe to other people like elated.com. Furthermore the principles behind the actual roleplay system has been tested quiet heavily before hand by our good freinds at Revival then merged by us with a system from Whizkidz. |
The Setting of Port KarThis roleplay room is based apoun the Port Kar written by John Norman in Raiders of Gor; And subsequent novels. It is a den of vice and corruption, slavery and piracy. A place designed by its very nature to mimic the chaotic and evil nature of the books. Established on the Thassa, Port Kar is also bordered by the Tamber Gulf's Vosk Delta marshes and has a very tropical, humid climate. It is a City of Outcasts populated by pirates, thieves, murderers, and cutthroats. The scum of Gorean society. Each Ubar rules solely through the power of his steel for he knows that at any time, his right to be Leader can be challenged. Port Kar is known for her fleets of low slung tarn ships which are feared all over the waters of known Gor. This wildly beautiful, almost lawless City is the only one to recognize the Caste of Thieves. Known by the 3-pronged brand on their right cheek, the thieves virtually control the perimeters and lower canals of Port Kar. Finally it is said that the chains of a slave are heaviest in Port Kar, for because of its geography, the slaves very rarely escape the clutches of the city. The dancing girls of Port Kar are considered the finest on Gor because of this reason, a combination of savagery and wild beauty. What is roleplay?A Roleplaying Scenario is part improvisational theatre, part storytelling and in some cases part board game. Now in the case of this room is is controlled by a council that will run the room and a group of typists who represent the various characters inside the realm. They pretend to be those characters. These characters are defined by a set of statistics that represent skills and attributes developed in the character creation process. They are then fleshed out with an invented background and presonality which the typist follows during the sessions. The room council has clearly laid down the setting of port kar for the roleplay; through their characters the typists interact with the storyline and each other. In a roleplaying scenario, the characters actions are controlled by the typists. If the typist does not want his/her character to go through the door then happily they have the choice to avoid that situation. If the typist feels that instead of the character drawing the trusty gladius he might be able to bluff his way out of a situation.. he can feel free to follow that option. To assist the roleplay of the characters the council controls the actual scenario, port kar herself. They keep track of events that occur within the room and in addition characters currently using the room. They act as the judges, advisors and clerks out of character. The game system comes into play when characters seek to use their skills or otherwise do something that requires a test to see wether or not they succeed. Specific rules will be provided for combat and other matters. The groundbreaking installation.Having grown tired of a freeform realm without clear guidelines for a persons size, strength, intelligence or whatever else we have decided to take the groundbreaking step of introducing character sheets to port kar. You must have an approved character sheet to roleplay inside the room validly. The room is a open zone to all approved characters. Do whatever you want to do within reason and be prepared to back your actions up should another character take a problem with them. Dont walk down certain alleyways if you enjoy your freedom. Stuff like that. If you want to roleplay gorean subjects here then make sure you keep it to gorean themes. Dont bring your katana. Dont bring your SCA training. Dont bring your bad attitude from listening to 50 cent. Your roleplay will be scrutinised by the council for your own adhesion to gorean principles. Finally. This room was created to get away from the usual problems that has been seen throughout the years in the gorean community. It will no doubt come as a system shock but clearly it is designed to allow us to roleplay in the room without having to deal with the rampant character crossing and lack of ingeniuty currently apoun the realm. No doubt some will abuse us for the stance we have taken. However once past the clear guidelines that have been set down you will find the detailed roleplay, visceral action and open scenario's you have always sought on Gor within our doors. With a clearly defined judicial system, a series of rules in place to weed out the thrill seekers and a place of secure/safe roleplay without feeling intimidated by those typists around you. | |
