With this versitile activity, students will not only learn to make their own paper, but will also get a lesson in history and science. Students will learn about the various materials that were used in the past and how they were evolved into the paper that we use today. They will also be taught advantages and importance of recycling paper in our environment.
Students will then be able to create their own handmade paper and decorate it with an array of materials, including dried herbs, grass, glitter, feathers, and colored threads/paper.
Handmade Soap:
People have been making and using soap and soap alternatives since medieval times. Children will learn what was used before the discovery of today’s soap. There are various methods to make soap and we will briefly explore them. Kids will then make their own soap that can be used at home.. They will also learn about the chemical reaction that takes place during the soap-making process.
