Cleve Mackenzie and his brothers have been on Charlie Walden's trail for several years. Flint and Luke are married, so that leaves Cleve to continue the search. He supports himself by playing cards, and in this last game, he's won the deed to the saloon he's playing in. Cleve has no idea what he's going to do with the place, it's something of a hindrance to his goals, yet he sees potential in it.

A mysterious young woman arrives in Fort Worth, dressed in a wedding gown, looking for Antonio. Cleve, assuming the missing man to be the the young woman's husband to be, finds himself jealous of her betrothed. Adriana stays at the saloon for a while, for lack of another place to go, and ends up driving Cleve crazy with frustration. This gal can't seem to do anything right. Will Antonio return to claim his bride? Can Cleve find another lead on Charlie Walden and renew his search for the murderer?

Cleve's story, the third in the Mackenzie series, is a re release but worth reading again. Adriana, the daughter of a Spanish hidalgo, can't seem to do anything right, and her attempts create humor in the story. She's in and out of trouble, but she means well. Right from the first, Cleve is attracted to her, but he has Antonio to contend with. Besides, the search for Charlie Walden is more important...or is it?

Cleve joins Flint, Luke and their families at the Mackenzie Ranch and some fun times take place. The interaction between the brothers makes for enjoyable reading, and their wives add spice to the mix. The search for the Walden gang starts up again, creating tension in the plot to keep the story going and solve a long standing threat.

The stories behind each of the Mackenzie brothers and the women who support them are well worth reading again. These are western relationships and adventures at their best.
