Take one runaway princess, the chosen crown prince of the galaxy, a disgruntled United States Senator, and you've got the makings of an intriguing plot.
Ian Hamilton is the stepson of Rom B'kar, and chosen to be Rom's heir. Ian is on an 'undercover' mission to find out what Senator Randall is up to with his talk of Earth leaving the Federation. The crown prince's troubles involve ship pilots who get drunk. He needs to find a pilot he can trust to stay sober. What he does find is Tee, an unlikely pilot, who seems to have a taste for Mandarian whiskey, but she's a great pilot.
Tee'ah Dar is a Vash princess, soon to be promised to eldest son of another Vash royal family. Tee doesn't appreciate being left behind all the time, and decides to make a run for it, toward the kind of life she's always wanted. She hadn't counted on running into Ian. Can this supposedly spoiled princess find the kind of life she really wants?
Susan Grant continues her story of galactic problems with the unexpected choice of heir. After all Ian Hamilton is an earth dweller, and has not a drop of Vash blood in his veins. He'll have to go the distance to prove himself fit for the role, and that won't be easy. There are those who would rather see him ousted, and they can create problems to compromise Ian's diplomatic ways.
The story is amusing at times, and brings back some characters from The Star King, like Gann, Rom's close friend, and his bodyguard...Muffin. He's anything but what his name implies. The galactic frontier raises questions Ian must find answers to, and soon.
Ms Grant has the perfect hero to be the go-between of two worlds, and a heroine who seeks her own way. Filled with the right mix of action, suspense and romance, The Star Prince will entertain you from first to last page.
