Homeschooling !!

Homeschooling! This is the choice for us. 

God knows the plans He has for our family and we are completely trusting Him every step of the way. 

We have the privilege of knowing some very dear people, Valerie and Lee.  They have an awesome family that introduced us to homeschooling.  Their family is an open witness and teaching tool for us.  We love hanging out with them, while observing and sharing in their learning.  You will probably hear me referring to them often in my homeschooling journals.
Once we began to research homeschooling, and overcame my feelings of inadequacy, we accepted that homeschool was God's desire for our family. 
I urge all families to at least consider homeschooling, if it does not fit with your family- Fine ! , but at least consider all of your options  Make a proactive choice in your child's education.

Why Homeschool?
   Homeschooling has so many benefits, it's hard to attempt to list them all.  I will discuss several reasons for our choice, but they are not listed in order of importance.

1.  The opportunity to weave our faith throughout daily learning and various subjects.  There are lots of Christ-centered materials available.  this allows us to teach our children that Jesus is to be a part of our everyday lives, not just on Sundays and special programs.

2.  Being able to be a part of the children's learning and tailor the subjects according to their individual strengths.

3.  The 1:3 ratio, teacher to students.

4.   Focusing on academic subject for 2-4 hrs. per day.  This leaves the rest of the day open for hands on activities, sports, and other interests that enhance learning.

5.   Making learning and exploring a lifestyle.

6.   Opportunity for flexible school schedule and environment.  If we want to travel, visit family, or extend field trips, schoolo can still continue relatively uninterrupted.  Likewise, if there is a birth, death, or medical emergency school can be postponed until the family is ready to resume.

7.   The closeness of the family by creating daily shared experiences- deepening bonding.

8.   The evidence, via reaserch and studies, that shows homeschool students perform as well, and sometimes better than public school students.
