Scarborough Faire Renaissance Festival |
Held every spring in Waxahachie, Texas, usually the last weekend in April through the first weekend in June. This year in 2003 it opens April 12 and runs through June 1rd. Located on 35E South at exit 399 A. Free parking, no pets, costumes accepted. Some tips: If you have never been to SF, IT CAN GET HOT. Wear comfy clothes, and good walking shoes. Unless you want to be roasted to the medium Rare stage, don't wear bikini tops, tank tops, or skimpy clothes. DO wear clothes that will breath, and take sunscreen in with you. Don't rely on one application before you arrive to last you all day. Apply the highest SPF you can find, before you arrive, and every time you think about it. Wear shades! It's bright! Don't come barefoot. If you are wearing flip-flops or sandals, be prepared for worn spots, blisters, and sunburned feet!!! Don't wear heels, for goodness sake!!! It's outdoors, there are flush toilets, but it's a lot of walking and you must buy all food and drink inside. Be prepared to spend $20 each on food and drink (or more if you like to sample). Berr is served, but plan on making your alcohol consumption later in the day, so you won't get too dehydrated (beer and wine won't keep you hydrated) and don't forget time before you drive home. If you stay til close, there can be a 15-minute to 1-hour wait to get out of the parking lot, so bring a cooler to keep in the car - crack the windows and use a window shield in the car! Do NOT BRING animals and leave in the car!! |

Tara (and her service dog Beauty), Myryha, and BJ, SF 2001. No pets are allowed, but this does not apply to Service animals. However, we encourage you to leave animals at home unless they are really necessary. If you can get along with a hearing-ear person (or other such example) instead of the animal for the day, try it. It will be easier on the animals as well. |

Manly men in KILTS! Whoo-hoo! Part of the Royal Procession, daily at 1 pm throughout the village. April 28-29th is Highland Fling weekend - so come see those fellows from Scotland, where men are men and the sheep are afraid..... (sorry, old joke!) |

Once you have come out and gotten the feel of things and the lay of the land, you might want to go back in costume. We'll set up a page soon with period costume suggestions and hints for staying comfortable. (Ladies, corsets are more comfy than you think - if you remember SUNSCREEN!) |
