Subject: Relocation of Undergrads

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its been mentioned in the previous e-mail, that published in a Toronto
newspaper were some of York University's Adminstration solutions if the
strike continue. One of which was to relocate the thousands of undergrad
students to different Universities in Ontario. A bad move on York's part.
Perhaps they published this in the efforts to make people think they are
using the time wisely and coming up with solutions? If that is the case,
then it reinforces my opinion that they really are idiots. How do you
relocate 30,000+ undegrads from their programs, from homes, family, and
apartments. Leases have been signed, money paid over, transportation costs,
none of this I'm sure York considered. Not to mention the fact that many
Universities have come forth and said they don't have the capacity to allow
more students in. This article was published in hopes we would think York
is stratagizing, that they do care about students and are seeking viable
solutions. What in really did was show how incapable this administration
really is. Admin has put their students last in this cause, offering a
solution no one can contest - extending our fall semester into January,
beginning the winter in February, taking away our reading week, and
extending into May. We have to accept this, but don't think for once we
will accept being shuffled around to random Universities, uprooted from our
lives, just so Cupe and the Admin can fight out who will be the last one
standing.

I hope that we as students will come together. We have to
realize being passive is no longer the solution. Write, call, whatever you
have to do. Contact Lorna Marsden, write her an email. Write the head of
the Union a letter. Write the Minsiter of Education, write the Minsiter of
Labour. If there are enough complaints, enough anger and disapointment
being voiced, then someone has to listen. Remember that it is your
hard-earned money that is paying for this year. You are also apart if this
strike, and you have every right to stand up and be pissed that each and
everyone of us are getting screwed. Students are what make this University
run. No matter what they say, without us as their "pocket money" at
$4,000-10,000 a year, this University would not be able to survive. No
money, no students, bad publicity, bitter faculty - we make York University,
now let us show them how badly they will fall without us.
