Doesn't want Ontario government to intervene
in strike unless she requests it.
An article on the front page of the Saturday Star exposed a plan by
the Ontario government to send York's 33,000 undergraduate students
to other universities, to avoid the rest of the strike.
"The government is looking at options to help protect the university
students, including opening up spaces at other Ontario institutions so
they can continue their studies there," the source said.
The source in the Star did not indicate who would pay for the costs of
relocation, how the other universities would find room, or anything
else about how this would be accomplished.
York's Administration responded in surprise to the news, stating that this possibility
had never been discussed with the Ontario Minister before they left for holidays
and vacations on December 15th.
York's President then made it clear that she does not want the Ontario
government to intervene in the strike unless she requests it.
