the Ontario government to send York's 33,000 undergraduate students
to other universities, to avoid the rest of the strike.

RESCHEDULING OF CLASSES STILL UNCERTAIN
Strike to continue at least one more week in the New Year
Classes will not be resuming on January 3rd, as negotiations between York
Administration and CUPE 3903 are not taking place. As of Thursday December 14th,
York Administration has refused to continue negotiations with the union.

Ontario's Labour Minister Chris Stockwell agrees to York Administration's request to have a ratification
vote on the contract. The supervised vote is to be held on Jan. 4th and 5th,
and also means that the strike will be prolonged at least into the first week of January.
According to a quote of Stockwell in the Toronto Star, ratification votes result in ending the
strike only "15, 20, 25 percent of the time."
