William II
1087--1100 Died hunting in the New Forest when an arrow struck him in the eye.

Henry I
1100--1135 Nominated his daughter Matilda as successor. On his death the throne was offered to his nephew as a woman was considered unfit to rule.

Stephen
1135--1154 A weak king. The Welsh and Scots invaded. Matilda invaded from Anjou resulting in a decade of civil war.
