Although she has been playing since she was six years old, she has only been having lessons for about a year and a half. Since then her progress has developed greatly and she became solo cornet one (principal cornet) in the band. She was demoted back to solo cornet three because the conductor felt that it wasn't fair that the less talented players shouldn't have a chance to be principal cornet. A point that the thoughtful, kind Lizzie had been saying for a while (the fact that she was actually demoted because she lacked commitment and hardly turned up is irrelevant). She also plays in two bands at school; the wind band in which she plays solo cornet, and swing band in which she plays third cornet. She loves playing in bands and hopes that she can play in them for a long time.

Her career in piano started when her mother spotted an advertisment for a piano and violin teacher in the bakery window. She phoned up the lady, Carolyn Taylor (later to become Carolyn Cabrera because she got married and had two lovely children called Yasmin and Leo) (no relation to Hayley) to enquire about violin lessons. Carolyn asked about her musical background, so Lizzie's mother told her that she played the cornet. Carolyn decided that piano would be better suited to Lizzie. She started having lessons and soon acquired a great talent for piano. She has taken all her grades up to grade 4 and has never recieved anything lower than merit which is another great achievement for this musical legend. Does her talent have no limits?

Lizzie had to change teachers from Carolyn Cabrera to Junko Kobayashi because her mother went to university and couldn't drive her to Hadlow every Monday. Junko is a very accomplished international concert pianist who has toured many countries and has been on radio and television in some of them. Junko feels very lucky to have such a talented pupil and feels that Lizzie has the potential to be the greatest pianist since Mozart.

When Lizzie was in the infants at Offham Primary School she had a bitch of a teacher called Miss Francis who said she was intelligent and then said she wasn't. Lizzie's mother was very confused and had her IQ tested. It turned out that she was. Lizzie then attended NAGC (the National Association for Gifted Children - don't laugh). There she made some wonderful friends called Sarah and David Heath, Catherine Sankey and later on Maddy and Alex McCue. Lizzie got on well with all of them except Alex who she didn't like. All these people went to GIFT.

At GIFT, Alex started a band with Christian Dollimore called The Bricklayers. Later on Rob Hemmens joined and the band changed to
The Purge.

At GIFT Summer 1998 Lizzie was to come across a girl called Ruthe Davies. The two girls didn't really notice each other. They met again at Summer 2000 and became good friends. After Easter 2001 GIFT they decided to form a band to take the piss out of The Purge. The Twins was born - with Lizzie being the wonderfullest member of the band (and Ruthe being the loveliest). They decided that they would write their own songs and only do a couple of Purge related songs. The Twins are the best GIFT band and the first all female one. Their songs are excellent, with Lizzie's finest achievement being the instrumental "Haven Of Peace And Tranquillity".

The Twins have recently released their debut album called "If You Buy This Album Ruthe Will Sleep With You (And If You Don't Lizzie Will)."

(
Please note that this is only the name of their album and is not to be taken seriously, so please don't try to take us up on this offer. Whether or not you buy the album really has no influence on whether or not we'll sleep with you.)

Lizzie would like to thank Christian Dollimore for his first rate advice on writing a modest, unbiased biography.
The greatest day in history was no doubt the 3rd of May 1986 when Lizzie Darling Twin, born Elizabeth Emily Stephens, was born at 10:33 p.m. at Whipps Cross Hospital in London.

Heaven and Earth rejoiced and all God's angels sang songs of praise and exultation to God's finest creation to date. She lived in Chingford in London until she was two years old when she moved to West Malling in Kent.
Lizzie was the most atrociously behaved little brat in the history of the universe. Such tales of the little girl who covered the walls of her bedroom with crayon on the day they were to move from Chingford and the little girl who tried to hide her best friend under her bed when it was time for her to go home are not uncommon.

Lizzie was always interested in music and always had a natural musical talent. She owned some crappy little toy instruments; a little xylophone, an electric organ and goodness knows what else. Her mother tried to teach her recorder, but Lizzie refused to learn as the recorder is a crappy instrument. (Sorry to anyone who plays it, but it is.) She was no doubt such a pain to teach that her mother gave up after realising that such excellence is wasted on the recorder.

Lizzie would frequently, with her friend Katie Smith, record music tapes of them singing, playing these instruments and reading stories with musical sound effects. These tapes were of excellent recording quality and couldn't have been written better by professional musicians.
Hayley Taylor was to be a great influence in the musical career of this very talented young lady. As Lizzie and Hayley's mothers were talking in the playground while picking up the two girls from Offham Primary School, Hayley's mother mentioned that Hayley played in a brass band that supplied instruments and taught them how to play. Lizzie's mother took her along, where she was given a cornet and shown how to hold and blow it.

She did not have lessons after that. She was completely self taught and managed to get to the position of solo cornet three with no lessons. A huge achievement I am sure you will agree.
