biography
At the age of thirteen, Ruthe took up singing lessons. These lessons stopped after a few weeks when her teacher moved to London. However, Ruthe is currently researching local teachers to restart lessons. She continued singing just by herself, and sometimes with her younger sister Mary, who also likes to sing. She has recently restarted singing lessons and sings solo on a weekly basis in a local church.

Ruthe sang in the Music Centre choir for two years, and toward the end of this time she became the solo performer. However, she left choir when the rehearsal times started overlapping with her piano lesson.

Ruthe began teaching herself guitar, in May 1999, on a cute little ten-year-old nylon-string called Nonney. For a couple of months, she followed basic teach-yourself-guitar books. She then began having guitar lessons and at Christmas 1999, she got a steel-string green guitar called Miracles. This guitar is twin to her younger brother Peter's guitar, Carl Beverage, which is an identical guitar in blue. Ruthe's third and current guitar is a Tanglewood electro-acoustic called Sunday.

Soon afterwards, she changed schools. At the new school, she joined her first band, a harmony folk group called Chell. In this group, Ruthe sang and played guitar. However, a few months later Chell acquired a proper guitarist and Ruthe remained just as a singer. Chell produced an album called Clive Goes Large jointly with some other bands. Ruthe stayed with Chell for two years, until she left the school in May 2001.

At Christmas 2000, Ruthe was given a Fender Jazz bass guitar called Judas. She shared this bass with Peter, and they began bass lessons immediately.

In April 2001, Derby Music Centre decided they were desperate for french horn players. Two trumpet players, including Ruthe, were selected for french horn lessons. Ruthe stopped having trumpet lessons, but continued to play trumpet in Swing Band. Ruthe learned the french horn rapidly and at the recent auditions, was put in Intermediate Orchestra and Intermediate Wind Band as a french horn player. She had previously been playing trumpet in these bands, but changed to french horn because it is a minority instrument and there were too few players.

Ruthe has always loved listening to music, with her musical tastes veering towards indie rock. Her favourite bands include REM, The Wonder Stuff, The Levellers, The Smiths, Queen. She dislikes most current pop, R&B, trance crap, cheese music and anything that's arguably not music, e.g. techno etc. She also has a scarily growing appreciation of 80's and 60's rock.

Her current musical project is Lydian, a performing duet with another music student Pandora, a flute player. Lydian play together several times a week, doing the music for a local church. Lydian also play as wedding singers and perform for parties and so on. They are currently working on a recording project for publicity reasons. The

Ruthe was revealed to be of exceptional intelligence when her sister Sarah did her university thesis on the emotional difficulties of the gifted child. Ruthe was a case study example in this thesis. Soon after, Ruthe joined NAGC (the National Association of Gifted Children) and CHI (Children of High Intelligence), who referred her to GIFT. So, at the age of ten years old, Ruthe began attending GIFT courses.

At the age of twelve, in Summer1998, Ruthe attended her first GIFT course at the Croft. At this course, she met Lizzie-Darling. However, she did not talk to her much at this course, and when the course was over, the memory of Lizzie was subsequently wiped permanently from her mind.

At Summer 2000, Ruthe met Lizzie again, and they became friends. After the course, they kept in touch, and they both attended the Easter 2001 GIFT course. It was after this course that Ruthe and Lizzie decided to form the GIFT band Twins (who are not in any way at all a Purge pisstake band, I don't know
where Lizzie got that from ;-).

They immediately started writing songs for their debut album, If You Buy This Album Ruthe Will Sleep With You (And If You Don't Then Lizzie Will). The album was released October 2001 and sold over three times as many copies as rival band The Purge.

Ruthe sings in Twins and also plays guitar and bass. She writes some of their music, with her best song currently being the epic
Blue Daisy. Ruthe intends to further her interest in music over the next couple of years - she is currently studying Music and Music Technology AS Levels (two *seperate* courses), both of which she intends to study for two years and take through to A2 Level.

The Twins' plans for future musical activities is as yet vague and undecided, but considering the overwhelming musical talent within these two remarkable girls, the Twins could go in any direction, anywhere, throughout the entire musical world. We can only wait and hope to see exactly where The Twins will end up.

On the 8th November 1985, Ruthe Tres Davies was born, daughter to Brenda and Colin Davies, and little sister to Sarah, Katy, Clare and Anna. She lived in Wigan, Manchester, until the age of ten months, when she moved to Belper, Derbyshire.

Ruthe started learning recorder in primary school, and though she only learned this to a simple level, it provided her with a basic knowledge of music notation. At the age of nine years old, Ruthe began piano lessons, which she continues to this day, at the time of writing, working toward grade 7.

Soon after, Ruthe continued her musical interests by taking up the trumpet. After a year of lessons, Ruthe joined the basic bands at Derby Music Centre. Through the years at Music Centre, Ruthe progressed through these bands and now plays first trumpet in the Swing Band.
