school of the writing space
Beginners' classes consist of exercises which connect language with the senses and with the body as a whole. Students write fragments, making no attempt to fit them into any known form or genre. The focus is on finding out what has energy for you, finding out what you really need to say and exploring as many types of writing as you can. There is no prescribed benchmark for leaving beginners' classes. It may take weeks, months or years before you feel ready to move on. Students may also return to beginners' classes between projects or at times when they are blocked or trying to expand into new areas.
