this is what i wrote in april, 2001: this is the black rebel motorcycle club, in my opinion the best new band to come out of america in a good long while.  (and when i say new, i mean new.  their first album just came out today! (03.04.01)  it is your job, humble reader to call, write, or stalk the good people at your local record shop to be sure that the brmc's brilliant new album is stocked and promoted! my speculation on the future of the brmc: a cult following in the states, and a huge following in the uk, quite similar to the dandy warhols situation (who the brmc toured with in 2000). how right could i be??  what i didn't count on was the nme trying to turn the brmc into *the new big thing*  which worked, but i still have mixed feelings about the boys' popularity.
