Cleansing & Consecration | |||||||||||
CLEANSING Cleansing can be defined as the removal of negative energies from an object or a place through the use of positive psychic energies. Cleansing is used to prepare both places and tools that will be used in rituals and spell casting. Cleansing removes negative energies from a place/object while using positive energies to create a "psychic fingerprint" on the item or area in question. The energy then becomes part of the place/object allowing its use for positive purposes. Cleansing can be broken down into three parts - cleansing, consecration and charging (also termed empowerment). THE RITUAL BATH/SHOWER Before performing any ritual it is beneficial to have a bath or shower. Ritual baths are very common in many cultures and religions before any act of worship. Water can be viewed as a purifying substance that washes away everyday tensions and negativity enabling us to work better with divinity. It has been argued that a shower works better than a bath to purify the body for ritual. This is due to the fact that during a shower water constantly flows over the body washing away dirt and impurities instead of just sitting in a bath. There are many ways to make the ritual bath/shower a pleasant and spiritual experience. Candles can be burned in the bathroom, along with incense and oils and herbs can be added to the water. I will post details of some recipes for bath oils etc soon. METHODS FOR CLEANSING AND CONSECRATING There are many different methods for cleansing and consecrating magickal tools and sacred spaces. The best method used really depends on what is being cleansed and empowered. Below there are links to pages which detail methods of cleansing and consecration for different things. |
