Gods and Goddesses of the Greek Pantheon
AEOLUS
"Earth destroyer".  God of wind and air.

AMPHITRITE
Goddess of the sea and wife of Poseidon.

APHRODITE
Goddess of passion, sexual love and beauty.  She was born from the foam of the sea and carried to Cyprus.  Her sacred animals included the dolphin, dove and swan.  She symbolises feminine prowess, sexuality, relationships and flower magic.

APOLLO
God of light, music, poetry, dance and medicine.  He was the son of Zeus and Leto and the twin brother of Artemis.  Also, considered the patron of herdsmen.  He is portrayed as a young man carrying a lyre or bow and arrows.  His symbols are the lyre and the laurel tree.

ARES
The cruel god of war.

ARTEMIS
Goddess of the moon, the hunt and fertility.  One of the virgin goddesses and a protector of women in labour, small children and wild animals.  Often depicted as a young woman armed with bow and arrows.  Her sacred animals were deer/stags, geese, wild dogs, bees and bears.

ASCLEPIUS
Son of Apollo.  God of medicine and healing.

ATHENA
Goddess of wisdom, defensive warfare and handicrafts.  Also, known as "Pallas Athene" in acknowledgement to her dual nature.  Pallas being goddess of courage, strength, chivalry and war, while Athene was goddess of peace, wisdom, science and the crafts.  She was a patron of craftsmen and protector of cities, especially Athens which was named after her.  Her symbols include the owl, snakes and the olive tree.  She is often depicted as a woman in armour.

BOREAS
God of the north winds.

DEIMOS
God of fear.  One of the sons of Ares.

DEMETER
"Barley Mother"  Goddess of the earth and agriculture.  She taught mankind the art of farming. 
Her symbols are the fruits of the earth and the torch.

DIONYSUS
God of wine, merry making and fertility. 

EROS
God of sexual desire.  Depicted as a winged boy armed with a bow and arrows.  He could fire two kinds of arrow - one to promote love and the other to promote indifference

GAIA
Mother Earth.  It was believed she was born from chaos and gave birth to the seas, mountains and sky.

HADES
God of the dead and ruler of the underworld.

HEBE
Goddess of youth.

HECATE
Goddess of crossroads and witchcraft.

HELIOS
God of the sun.

HEPHAESTUS
God of fire and blacksmiths.  The patron of craftsmen.  He was made lame after Zeus threw him out of Olympus because he sided with his mother, Hera, in an argument.  Normally portrayed as a crippled man bent over an anvil.
