David
Elliott has a reputation for self-confidence
bordering on arrogance. Those
close to him say this is misleading;
that the 19-year-old is guilty of only huge
personal commitment. And
has worked tiredly down the years to develop
himself, and merely follows through in his
day to day dealing with team mates and
management.
Elliott's manner
has not always worked in his favor; his
failure to win back his place in the Thorn
side provoked backhand smirks from people
who felt his comeuppance. No wonder Elliott
allowed himself a glimpse of a smile after
playing an enormous part in the 2-1 win over
St. Peters. Elliott seems a lot more at ease
after winning his place back, as his
previous good form made it easier. As he
says "being left out the team after my
illness was very frustrating, considering i
had been playing for so well before that. To
be involved in such a big match at the
weekend (Thorn vs. St. Peters) was very
pleasing, which shows the boss has as much
confidence in my ability as i do"
With so much
competition for places in the Thorn side,
Elliott dismissed talk of him being on the
sidelines for another lengthy spell,
"fair enough there's a few players who
can play a similar position to me, but none
of them possess the qualities i do, i men
i'm very effective breaking forward, I'm
pacy and deceptively strong, yes the other
guys are good players, but so what "
