After dinner we walked across the street to the state park and went to the Visitors Center to get some more information on what to see in the Niagara Falls area. We found out that there was an old outpost, called Fort Niagara, that was about 30 miles north of the city. We then headed back to the hotel to pickup our Taurus and began driving north along the river. Our journey would take us past the Whirlpool Rapids Bridge and the hydroelectric power plant. As we entered the park area at Fort Niagara, we realized that it was closed. We did however continue to drive around the fort, and with the rain and night falling, viewed as much as we could. Fort Niagara overlooks Lake Ontario, but with the foul weather we weren't able to see the lake.
