place from 1 to 4 p.m. These included “Relay Games” featuring
Voyageur Relay, Ferkin Rolling, Dress the Tardy Voyageur and

National Update...
The Trans Canada Trail RELAY 2000 began on
February 19th from Tuktoyaktuk, N.W.T. with water being drawn
from the Arctic Ocean. The Relay’s Pacific launch was from
Victoria, B.C. in April, followed by St. John’s, Newfoundland
in May. Relay carriers were selected through a national media
recruitment campaign that closed December 3, 1999. Each
carrier walked, cycled, rode horseback, wheeled, snowmobiled
or cross-country skiied with the water.

Canada
witnessed a “Trail of Celebrations” as the Relay made its way
through more than 800 communities. On September the 9th, 2000,
the waters from the three oceans reached the National Capital
Region. |
