Basically, it serves the purpose that Scouting was intended for - to bring the World's youth together. All different contingents get together and display some of their own culture, heritage and geography. Displays included traditional foods, dancing, singing, pictures, video, and lots of information about the way Scouting works in different countries! What an experience... The following are a couple of pictures that were taken.
This isn't a great picture, but it was one of everyone's favourite activities. It was the Swedish contingent's pole thing... sorry to anyone from Sweden, but I don't remember the actual Swedish name for it. Basically, they do this every year on the Vernial Equinox... they put up this pole, and do traditional songs and dances. Luckily, anyone at the GDV also got to experience this tradition!
This is part of the Slovenian contingent, doing some traditional Slovenian songs and dances.
Actually, I can't remember what countrie's uniforms these are, but this is another example of what was at the GDV. In the picture, from left to right, is myself (Mike,) Ari from Acapulco, Mexico, and Ryan from the 2nd Malton Thunderbird Crew in Oakville.
