These are the pairs that have been brought up by the readers as those they’d like to see team up with Frank and Joe in a modern setting. Following the blurbs are sites to fan fiction that some readers outside of the site have written. Some series were too confined in the characters to be able to have a Frank and Joe style adventure so fan fiction for them does not exist.
If you are deciding to create a story paring up some of these groups with Frank and Joe, I've created a page of new investigative tools that most of these groups didn't have at the time the were aired/written.

Bo and Luke Duke – A pair of cousins that live on a farm in Hazzard County with their Uncle Jessie and Cousin Daisy. Blond headed-blue eyed Bo has a flair for danger, while dark haired Luke is the calmer of the pair, could pass for a older country version of the Hardy Brothers. Bo and Luke are on probation for an old crime of helping their Uncle Jessie transport the illegal homemade alcohol called moonshine. Uncle Jessie signed an agreement with the government that in exchange for Bo and Luke getting probation he would never make another drop of moonshine.
They are constantly foiling the schemes of greedy Boss Hogg, who owns nearly everything and overcharges everything in the county of Hazzard. Bo and Luke drive their orange car nicknamed the General Lee. They have dreams of racing in the NASCAR circuit and often use the General for practice. It’s these skills that allow them to outrun Boss Hogg’s faithful deputy stooge Rosco P. Coltrane. Bo and Luke are also avid archers who use their bow and arrows with amazing accuracy.
Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock – This pair can be seen in the Star Trek TV series and Star Trek movies. Created by Gene Roddenberry, the series was set in the future around the 23rd century. Captain James T. Kirk was the commander of the Starship Enterprise with Mr. Spock as his chief science officer. The Federation came from an unity of all the countries and peoples on Earth that finally put aside all differences, solved their own problems and sought to explore the stars to find what lies beyond their own galaxy of planets.
Captain Kirk took over for Captain Pike. Pike left for several reasons and Kirk took up the reigns of the Enterprise. The mission of the Enterprise was to explore new worlds and to spread mankind’s message and knowledge. Captain Kirk was from Earth and entered the Federation. Known to be quick witted but sometimes short-tempered, he was never one to jeopardize the life of his crew. Kirk was well known for his some times unorthodox approaches to dealing with new and sometimes hostile situations. His best friend along the mission of the Enterprise is Mr. Spock.
Mr. Spock, a Vulcan came from planet Vulcan. With his pointy ears and stickler for logic, he was never prone to emotion. He was born to an Earth mother and a Vulcan father and trained for years to subdue all his human emotions. He became a science officer for the federation as part of a relationship established between the federation and his home planet. Captain Kirk relies on Spock as his duties as one of the best Science officers but to come up with solutions that Kirk himself doesn’t see. Spock doesn’t fight but instead uses various holds by grabbing a person on various points on the body to paralyze, knock out, or in last resort kill. He can also perform a mind-meld in which he can read another person’s thoughts and emotions.
While never prone to fighting, Kirk and Spock always find themselves solving problems that ranged from small squabbles between families to interstellar war. Sometimes they did fail but that never stopped them from continuing on their mission. In the movies, Kirk was supposedly killed in an explosion while trying to save the Enterprise. Actually he ended up in the Nexus, a rip in space that when inside people were so happy they never less unless they chose to or are forced out. There he met up with the Captain Picard, the captain of the next generation starship Enterprise. Kirk was killed on a planet trying to stop a mad scientist from destroying a star. Spock went on to be a diplomat. However in the book series, both Kirk and Spock live on in different roles but are still friends.
Dog the Bounty Hunter – A real-life family of bounty hunters that work out of Hawaii. Dog is the owner of his agency. Dog is a tough guy with the characteristics of a biker; long blondish hair that’s a little scraggily, big muscles, etc. He’s assisted by his Beth his wife, Tim his brother, sons; Dwayne Lee and Leland, and Justin his nephew.
Dog is also a bail bondsman. He will go after various bail jumpers for all sorts of crimes. He will help those on occasion when he feels they need more help then they do jail. He doesn’t use a lethal weapon and relies mostly on pepper spray. He is no stranger to the stunts people will pull and always wears his bullet proof vest and makes sure his family wears them as well. Dog cares about his family and always takes time out for his wife and son. Though they all wish he would quit smoking.
Hercules and Iolaus – Hercules was the child of Zeus and a mortal woman. Hercules traveled the lands uses his gifts from Zeus to battle the demons and suffering brought by his step-mother Hera. Hercules never used his gifts for profit and often found himself at odds with his step-family because many of the gods and their children were conned by Hera into doing her dirty work. Iolaus was Hercules traveling friend. While Iolaus didn’t posses any of Hercules gifts, he proved that he used everything he had in helping Hercules along the way. Hercules and Iolaus proved to be a formidable team, helping those who needed it and solving problems for those who ran out of ideas. Later Iolaus was killed protecting Hercules, and he never quite recovered from the death of his friend. Iolaus spirit proved to be tougher, and he often came to Hercules to offer guidance and protection.
Joe Friday and Bill Ganon – These two were the best in their division. With Sgt. Friday’s famous quote “Just the facts, Mister, just the facts.” The series was often commentated by Friday’s voice as he described what was happening as the scenes moved from one to the other. Friday and Ganon were not really supposed to team up due to Ganon thinking about retirement. It was after solving his “final case”, that Ganon decided to stay on. The unique thing about show was that the cases that Friday and Ganon solved were actual crimes with the names changed to protect the victims. Afterwards they would say what had happened to the criminals that had been arrested, or the people that were the focus of the show.
Lassie and Timmy – A simple plot of a small boy and his dog, set in the rural Midwest, Lassie was originally belonged to a boy named Jeff. He gave her to Timmy as a gift. Lassie and Timmy always found themselves in one situation or another where Lassie used all her canine instincts and capabilities to get them out. The series was popular but quickly ran out of plot ideas.
