I Welcome you to a game called Tibia, one of the longest and enjoyable games you could ever play. You will travel all over a large world named tibia, level up by gaining exp from battles and also use many different weapons and items. The greatest thing about this game however is the fact it is an online game, and it's also free. As you journey across tibia you can interact with other players online, make new friends, and even train with other people. To play this game you must download the latest client from the official homepage, www.tibia.com After you download the client you must sign up an account on the main page, and after you receive your account number and password you may login on the site. On your account you can create a character, which will allow you to play the game. When creating your character you must think of a name that is not offensive (see rules). Choose the gender and then you have an option of which world to play on. Every world looks the same in every way, select world just means select server (everyone couldn't fit on one server all at once). Each server has a different name such as Antica or Secura. Next to each world is the date it was created; it is wise to choose a server made not so long ago (as this will be less populated usually, and easier to log on to). If you live in Europe it is wise to choose a European Server as it will be easier to log onto, and you will have a better connection to those servers. Note: it is important when chosing a world that you look at its additional information. For example, Antica is a PvP world meaning players can kill each other, whereas Secura and Calmera are non-PvP, where players can't kill each other. I personally prefer non PvP worlds as some people who are good at tibia may be nasty people hell bent on killing people (bad news for you. Once you've created your character, open the tibia client you downloaded, enter you username and password that you received, and log onto your character. You will start in a town called: Rookgaard In this town, no matter what world you play in, players can not attack each other. You will have started off in a small temple next to a NPC (non-player character, ie a computer) named Cipfried. You can address this person by saying certain words. "Hello" and "Hi" will make most NPC's start talking to you. NPC's can be distinguished by how they move very slowly, and also they are often trapped behind a counter if they are shopkeepers. Cipfried heals you from poison, or if your hitpoints drop below 65 (he will heal them back to 65). If you walk out of the temple you'll probably notice many people walking around Rookgaard, these are other people playing the game. You can talk to them by typing a message in the default box at the bottom of the screen pressing enter. You can also message people privately by right clicking them and clicking message to "name". Most things on the menu bar to the right are quite obvious- "battle" shows you the people and monsters on screen, VIP is a list that you can add people to and view whether they are online or offline (and you can message them from here by double clicking the name), and the skills list dispalys how good you are at certain things, such as shielding (raised by shielding many attacks), how good you are at using different weapons (training with say a dagger or sword will raise sword fighting), and also how good you are at fishing and magic level (magic level won't mean anything until you are in main). The aim of Rookgaard is to get to Level 8 by killing monsters (and gaining 4,200 exp overall for L8), and once you get to L8 you can go to the mainland and choose a vocation (see "vocations"). In Rookgaard you'll want to get some decent armor and weapons. To do this, you'll need to kill monsters, and earn "gp" (gp is the currency in all of tibia, not just main, standing for "gold pieces") To earn gold coins you might want to go under the sewers and kill rats. You can earn up to 6gp from one rat, and if you pick the corpse you can sell it to tom the tanner in the tanner shop. You can also buy a key that opens a door with different monsters in from Seymour the NPC. If you say "buy the key" to Seymour you can buy this key which opens a door under his academy. After you have earned enough gp you can buy better armour and weapons, which will make you do more damage and take less damage. After you have got past Level 1 (200 exp) You may leave the town on the north bridge, and take on even harder monsters (such as trolls, orcs + orc spearmans, and even the deadly minotaurs and rotworms). You may find meat and ham (inside many monsters, especially deers, bears and rabbits) which, if you click "use" on (same as eat) the food will disappear if you are not full up, and you shall regain HP slowly. If you eat more food you will regain HP for longer. This is a brief guide of what to do when starting off, you will discover much more from adventuring, and other players! When you get to Level 8 (4200 exp) check out the vocations section. |
