Where to now?

To earn the Bobcat Badge, your boy must complete these eight tracks of Akela:

1. LEARN AND SAY THE CUB SCOUT PROMISE

"I ____________________, promise to do my best, to do my duty to God and my country, to help other people, and to obey the Law of the Pack."

2. SAY THE LAW OF THE PACK. TELL WHAT IT MEANS.

The Cub Scout follows Akela.
The Cub Scout helps the pack go.
The pack helps the Cub Scout grow.
The Cub Scout gives goodwill.

Who is Akela? In Cub Scouting, Akela means "Good Leader" - your mother, father, teacher, Cubmaster or other people who are willing to help you are Akelas.

THE MEANING

The Cub Scout Helps the Pack Go
When you become a Cub, you will be a member of a den within the pack. You can't think only of yourself, but you must think of your fellow Cub Scouts. Help your pack go by coming to all meetings, following Akela, and in every way making your pack better because of you.

The Pack Helps the Cub Scout Grow
You are going to have lots of fun. You will learn things from other people, and you will learn to do things with them. If you help your pack go, the pack will help you grow!

The Cub Scout Gives Goodwill
You will find that if you smile at your friends, they will smile back at you. Look for things to do for others. Smile and help. These are two good Cub Scout words.

3. TELL WHAT "WEBELOS" MEANS.

"WE'll BE Loyal Scouts"

4. SHOW THE CUB SCOUT SIGN. TELL WHAT IT MEANS.

5. SHOW THE CUB SCOUT HANDSHAKE. TELL WHAT IT MEANS.

6. SAY THE CUB SCOUT MOTTO. A MOTTO IS A RULE.

7. GIVE THE CUB SCOUT SALUTE. TELL WHAT IT MEANS.

8. COMPLETE THE EXERCISES IN THE PARNETS' GUIDE, WITH YOUR PARENT OR GUARDIAN.

The Motto is: "DO YOUR BEST."
