I was born not long after midnight on an easter saturday.
Saturday is my favorite day of the week and I enjoy to stay up late and sleep
even longer. Sleeping through half of the day is a bad habit which I got rid of in part.
Talking of which, one of my better habits is not to be late for appointments, unless
a bus or train forces me to.
I made my driver's license in 1996, exactly one month after my 18th birthday, which is one
month later than possible. In Germany it's
a bit more complicated and expensive to receive ones license. But that's a long story which
I will publish somewhere else. I might write a "Dummies Guide to Germany". Anyway, that's that.
Music is what I enjoy most. That's why I have a whole page about it. I like british pop like
Oasis, Travis, Blur or the Stereophonics - my favorite band. I also love alternative, which can
be about anything. My favorite bands include Incubus, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Jimmy Eat World,
System of a Down, the Offspring and lots more. I saw the Stones, Tina Turner, R.E.M and a
couple of other artists live. All of them were brilliant. Tina's voice is incredible. But none
of them had such an outstanding show like that of the Barenaked Ladies (Canadian band). If you
ever get the chance to see them live, DON'T MISS OUT! Their shows are awesome - dead funny and
cool! Their songs have catchy tunes, the lyrics are great and the show is an event. You will
not be disappointed. When I first saw them (as header of Bryan Adams) I had no idea who they
were but I was blown away. I went to two more Bryan Adams concerts just to see THEM!! They
haven't been to my part of the world since. :(
Besides music I love movies. I go to the Sneak Preview every week with a couple of friends.
Sneak Preview means that you are going to see a "surprise movie" that is not playing in
movie theatres yet (at least not in Germany). We have seen some really great movies and some
really bad ones. And then there was this one movie I had already seen a few weeks before. Never
gonna watch a downloaded movie again before it's playing in German theatres...
Another hobby of mine is raising plants. I think I will need to donate a website to my little
collection. Currently I have about a dozen Mimosa Pudica (they move their leaves when touched),
three tomatoe plants (the tomatoes are delicious), two small peach trees, a small rose bush, two
small pineapple palms, an avocado tree, a bambus, a cotton plant, a mango tree, an Asplenium
nidus (fern), a meanwhile pretty large Ficus Natasja, three wine plants and lots more. I call
the corner around my window my "green hell".
Things I don't like include people who lie, break their word, don't keep promises, pretend
to be someone they are not or play games. I've been there, done it myself (unfortunately),
had people do it to me and the only guaranteed outcome was disappointment, hurt feelings and
hate. So if you're looking for fun, do yourself a favor and be honest. It might not be the
fastest way, but the safest and easiest.
